The 16th President of the United States, serving from March 1861 until his assassination in 1865. He successfully led his country through its greatest constitutional, military and moral crisis, The Civil War. In doing so preserving the Union whilst ending slavery, and promoting economic and financial recovery.
His is a remarkable story of a rise from humble beginnings in Hardin County, Kentucky to the highest office in the land.
