Ohhh my glob! This weekend was SO much FUN! So, I went to Stockton, California's first ever "comic con" officially called Stockton-con this past Sunday. We mainly showed up for kicks and giggles because UoP is like 20 mins from where I live and we (meaning my boyfriend, my younger brother, and our other friend) honestly thought that there was only gonna be like MAYBE 500-1000 people there (with probably a 1/3 of them playing magic or yugioh lol). Oh, for reference, it was held in the UoP basketball arena btw. So anyways, we decided early on in the coming week to pull back out our ivy and two face cosplay (we meaning my boyfriend, Matthew). We had already done it for Halloween in 2010 and have always wanted to do a revamped version (we actually got him a really legit suit for this one and I added all sorts of ivy touches to mine). The morning of the con then came, we got ready, and we set out to what would surely be a tiny, unnoticeable, and probably lame con.
When we got to the place, the line to get in was crazy long! My face was all like O.o....... but we go to wait in line and in doing so meet up with some of my brother's friends. We derped around and took some pics while we waited. When we finally got inside, low and behold the place is WALL to WALL. Seriously, I'd say about 5,000 people (I'm wanting to find out what the actual attendance was!). The venue was barely big enough to accommodate all of us!
We pretty much we ended up having a blast! We expected the worst, and found awesomeness! The vendors were all really chill, super nice and friendly! In fact, everyone (con goers, vendors, staff, etc.) was super friendly and just wanting to have a good time! Our cosplay was well received with fans and pros alike (YEEE!). I then ran into Colleen and got to hang out with her (she had done an amazing Rosalina back at AX 2011 when I first met her). I then did an Ivy and Two-Face photo shoot with Taylor (loved working with him! He has some of the shoot posted on his page btw!). All around we hung out with old friends, made lots of new friends and connections with vendors, artists, and con goers, took a ton of pictures which I'm sure will be floating around on the internets soon XD, scored all kinds of awesome stuff (comics, actions figures, books), and just enjoyed the con which was a surprising success!
For anyone in the Nor Cal area with in a two hour drive or less of Stockton (and I never thought I'd ever be saying this), come on out next year! You won't be disappointed! The turn out with vendors and con-goers was just great! And seriously, cosplay! We need more cosplayers! I I am now currently trying to post pictures on here but I keep getting distracted >.< lol so check back soon! Anyways, I want to thank whoever took the time to read my above ramblings I'll be posting soon about my schedule for faires and con attendance for the rest of the year. If you happen to find yourself at the same venue, don't be shy! Come up and say hi! ^.^
