Dear Watchers and Friends,

First all, Many Thanks to all my friends who supported me in the events of the Last Journal.
Since that, I received a lot of messages and emails telling me to return the gallery, and at the end I think that I just overreacted.  
So I banned the abusive user and will try to ignore him.
As for the gallery, I returned it and will continue posting my fractals.

The Last Journal

Dear Friends,

For the last ten years I have been part of DA. And it was good, I meet a lot of friends
and thanks to DA I survived a lot in hard times.  But there's a story I want to share with you.

Ten year ago, I started a forum on my own website, and published my there. One day, one entry
in the forum was from a guy who demanded an equation for the Radiolaria Fractals (a mere spherical ifs variation).
I commented that to Lycium and he told me that such harsh way was not advisable. I agree and just banned it.
Then something horrible began to happens, he begin to attack the server and at the end, I was forced to close the
forum, leaving only the image gallery.

For a time that was a solution, and I continued posting my images at DA without much problems.
Then, one day, seven year ago, he entered on DA and begin again to make problems.
Also, on my own website someone begin to use scripts for downloading the images without caching them almost continuously.
Since I pay for network bandwidth, such extreme downloads almost killed my websites, due to the large number of
images and the quality of them.

At first, the websites almost went down, but I designed scripts for detecting such behavior and for blocking the IP address
from the attacker. Suddenly I received emails from  a single person telling me that blocking access to my website was
evil. Also, he tried from proxy's and the like, but since the attacks always follow the same pattern, the sever just block them.

Meanwhile, here on DA, I notice something curious: As you now, DA has a widget for showing the visitors, well, the same guy was
visiting my page every day. I banned, but then he posted a lot of Deviation misusing Incendia and sometimes telling good, sometimes
telling bad things of the program. I  finally decided to lift the ban and remove the widget, to stop seeing this behavior.

Well, from time to time, I saw the widget and in fact, he visited every day like a clock.

Some days ago I announced that the new version of Incendia was almost ready. And as expected, he made a post first good, then
evil, this time a lot. But this time I'm too weary, so after ten years of continuous problems, I give up.

My decision, in order to end this old struggle is this: In 24 hours I will quit and delete everything from DA.  

I will miss all of you, but after then years, I cannot go on. I suspect that the servers will be attacked (he attacked them
today), but I will effort to keep them alive. These scripts use AI (Fractal coding is not my only passion!) so most probably they will remain online.

You will say, that's an extreme measure, but if you look at my gallery in the comments or my profile, you will notice a bit of all of this.

I will miss all of you and the DA experience (except this guy)!

The tutorials are at first very simple, but that's because I'm learning how to do them in the right way, so any idea or suggestion is most welcomed.

Incendia EX VI is now released!, you can download it from Incendia.Net

This version includes all of the previous Incendia EX features, plus several new features, such as
new surface materials, a new editor for interactively build fractal transformations, multiple lights,
and several new baseshapes and fractal generators.  :D

Incendia EX V and Geometrica

The new release of Incendia EX, is now available at Incendia.Net
This release includes Geometrica, the mesh generator for Incendia.

Among the new features that I have included in this release, is a Mandelbrot set (experimental!), Quaternionic Kleinians, many new baseshapes, a lot of new random fractal generators,  JPG, PNG, GIF and TIFF support for textures, dmaps, backgrounds and surface maps, several bug fixes, and many other things :faint:

ps. Unlike most coders, I'm a mere mortal, so there will be bugs, if find one, please let me know!.
pps.  Now, time to continue with Aural, my other fractal program, the musical one..

Of Animations

Many requested me about the animations that I have recently rendered using Incendia EX.
Since Incendia only render the image frames, you must assemble them on other software.
There are zillions of programs for assembling videos, but for formats like Animated Gif and Animated PNG, there are very little.

Here are the facts, the tools and the procedure that I follow with some examples:

Animated GIF:
Pros, Small files, faster load times, and there are a lot of tools for making them.
Cons, Only 256 colors! and just one transparency level.

Tools that I use:

My procedure:
I first use IrfanView batch processing to lower the color depth, from 24bit to just 256 colors with the Floyd Steinberg dithering enabled! (important!), also the images are scaled down here..
Then, I use VirtualDub to open the image files (just by selecting the first one) and then exporting them to a GIF animation.

Animated PNG or APNG,
Pros,  Full color support, 256 transparency levels.. You can see the animations in their full color range.
Cons, Animations can only be seen  in Firefox and Opera (and in Google Chrome with an extension), big file sizes and very few tools for making them.

Tools that I use:
APNG Anime Maker
The Gimp

My procedure:
Irfanview for scaling (no color reduction is needed!), then I load the images on APNG Anime Maker and export them using the maximum compression (9).
Just a note, APNG anime maker don't works directly with my Incendia PNG files, no idea why, I just use Infarview to make the files.
For scaling with alpha transparencies, I use the GIMP (no idea why IrfanView didn't works for them).

Of Incendia EX

The first release of Incendia EX IV  is now available at Incendia.Net
There are several new features on  Incendia, (such as real time animation preview, and neon baseshapes) and I consider this first release as a test.  Next release will have better features (The GPU version, for example, the engine is ready, but i need to finish the porting of the fractal types to it, also need to add the transformation support to the animations).

I have included a little program called Quilts, that generates an infinite amount of Square Quilt attractors. you can use them for texturing as well as desktop backgrounds.
The donors version also includes the Snowflake Generator, that also generates an infinite amount of 3d snowflakes.

A little play on escapetime

I have been lately playing with the escapetime algorithms and while my results are pretty crude, its has been fun..:)
They are at the end of this post..

Now its time to return to Incendia, need to write that laser and other magics tutorial!. :pc:
Does anyone want any other type of Incendia tutorial? :?



ps. If you ask about why theres not an escapetime generator on Incendia, thats because  I often found the IFS algorithms strangely attractive, so I move very little away from them..:D

Incendia 1.5

There's a new release of Incendia 1.5 on

This release is a bug fix version of the first Incendia release.

The bugs fixes are:
1. The baseshape editor browser bug (sometimes not showing the right baseshape).
2. The strange open file dialog that appeared on the baseshape Array control.
3. The Maximize and Minimze bug. On some systems, when Incendia was minimized and maximized, it showed nothing but a black window.   

I also made few changes on the append baseshape option and added some new files (mostly dmaps and textures).

Incendia 1.5 First Try

I made several changes on the main engine of Incendia and I consider this first release as a test.
If all goes well, then there will be a second release with more support files and several new options
that many users has requested.

The Father of Fractal Geometry has passed away on October 14 at age of 85:…

I cannot express the sad feeling that I have.
He was the creator the fractal geometry and the main influence of all of my works. His discoveries gives us an insight of how nature works, from the coast line up to the shape of galaxies and even the shape universe.
