This object was generated using the following 3-dimensional parametric equation that comes in part from fibonacci spiral:
X():2*(1-2.718281828^(u/(6*pi)))*cos(u)*cos(v/2)^2
Y():2*(-1+2.718281828^(u/(6*pi)))*cos(v/2)^2*sin(u)
Z():1-sqrt(3)^(u/(2.13*pi))-sin(v)+2.718281828^(u/(6*pi))*sin(v)
[u]:0, 16*pi
[v]:, 8*pi

Therefore it's not just a model. It's pure math put to art :) The model was generated and then exported to .obj file in a freeware program called k3dsurf. After that, I imported it to 3ds max and rendered it with mental ray. The texture is also procedural but the formula that generated it is paradoxally more complex than the one that generated the object itself.
