Never used so many techniques for one picture:

biro, inkpens, ink+water+brush, a bit acrylics, ink+water+bamboo-nib, digital magic and digital painting.

Theer is something oddly disturbing yet beautiful about this piece. I can't place my finger on it.
ANd I absolutely adore the textures and movement throughout it!  Did you draw part of this traditionally and then complete it digitally?

thanks :)

It is a digital collage of traditionally done pieces. everything you see is traditional, but the depth is created through collaging and digital overpainting.

Wow. That's cool! Owo
So you basically overlap a bunch of Trad images and then edit portions of it digitally? Thats something I may try in the future!
:D

what technique did you use for the whitest spikes coming off the top? It looks watered down, water and white acrylic?

:iconaerozopher:

it's ink with digital inversion :)

white ink? or did you digitally alter the color and brightness?

Ah, I misread that and thought maybe you had just made a white ink brighter. I see now it was the latter, black originally and then altered. Thanks for answering.

um, Did you use India ink perhaps? I'm going to have to work with that soon, and the only ink I've used was my own ground up calligraphy ink and cheap chinese ink. I'm not sure on the transparency of india ink and how far you can push it with water. But your layered washes for the deepening background look good.

the background was pretty much clashed with ink textures/drawings and digital painting. the washes were digital.
and I don't have much experience with inks, sorry. I only know, that some coloured inks are pretty crappy. I use a good ink and mix it with water.

oh, the backwash is digital- I was wondering how you managed such an even wash... thought you were some kind of ink master ^^; Its a tough medium for most.

Well thank you for going into the details with me, I appreciate it. I look forward to more of these mixbag pieces. -And I won't pester you for the workthrough ;) Thanks again!
