Aura dug her talons into the dry soil; a soft breeze provided a little bit of relief against the unbearable heat. Her beak was opened in the same fashion many of the other competing stryx had done in order to regulate their body temperature. She was panting and couldn´t wait to get started with the game.
Her rider suddenly tugged one of her belly feathers and pointed towards the ground. The entire ground around Aura was scratched up from her talons, she admitted, shew as a bit nervous about the death roll.
Her eyes scrutinized her surroundings in order to gauge the air circulation. The nearby lake would provide nice thermal lift, it´s surface glimmering vividly under the scorching sun. The vegetation around the lake formed a green ring around the body of water, lush grass and reeds managed to survive the summer thanks to the water. Further away from the lake the land became more barren and dried out.
