Background
This shot was taken at the "Lac de Pierre percée" lake in northern france, when the temperatures were starting to rise just a bit after a rather cold winter. It was quite surreal, as the surface of the lake was one giant mirror, and there was nobody there but me and my wife - and no sounds. It was beautiful, too - crystal clear water with ice and old treestumps like this. I especially liked the litte sand dunes underwater.

Technique
Shot taken with my 3.3 Mpixel digital camera. No edits apart from the border and one slight level adjustment.

How did I miss this submission?
Really sharp photo, I just love how the tree-stump stands in and outside the water.

Friendly Greetings,
Xenopholis

I think this is the best photo in your gallery.
Everything flows so smoothly, and the reflection in the background adds so much. Nice work!

hehehh it's funny.. because "I especially liked the litte sand dunes underwater". It's the first thing that has called my attention of this pic.. wow.. it's definetly a weird pic... if you look at the sand underwater it reminds you to the dessert, but with the ice on top.. so it's like a chilling dessert! hhehehe :)

I had not thought of it that way - you are really quite a poet at heart ;)

oh.. no.. I don't think so.. though I have members in my family earn extra money from poetry! heheh perhaps is something in the blood that came to me :)

Who knows, maybe there's a great poet hidden away somewhere in your genes... ;)

oh anyway! I gave up writing a long time ago.. I'm too lazy for poetry...in fact I don't like it.. I prefer prose :)

very surreal....I really like the graphism of the whole picture and the dense contrast...you may have felt the sensation of tranquility over there hence the name ...I rather have a feeling of devastation here...

nice work..

Thanks for the comment! You are right about the devastation, depending on how you look at it ;)

It is really quite interesting to see what different people think of when they see this picture. Pzychonoir for instance directly saw the little sand dunes and thought of an icy desert :)
