the arwen 'dying' dress

I can never decide which pictures are best, so as you can see I like to do groupings of them, heh...
Anyway, this is my attempt to re-create one of the dresses arwen wears in the movies. take a look at this arwen poster as a reference.
I couldn't get the exact fabrics, nor the exact beaded trim, but I think it's close enough. Eventually, though, I want to try it again with real velvet instead of stretch velvet, and paisley silk instead of taprestry fabric.
One change I made was that I didn't sew the seams all the way down the skirt....I thought the bottom of the dress looked so plain, so sometimes I wear a red velvet skirt underneath and it shows through the slits, but not in these pics, I wore a black one underneath for these so the slits don't really show.
here's a good reference site if you're looking to make one yourself: alleycatscratch.com
I made the sleves attached to a separate bodice which fits under the dress so that they can be worn with other things - like this:

---
I do NOT take any of my pictures with the intention that that be used as stock. I'm indecisive - that's why I post a lot of the 'same' stuff. However, if you really want to use one of them please note me, tell me your plan, and if I say ok link back to the picture you used.

Stunning craftsmanship! :stunned: The sleeves are particularly gorgeous. I always want to sew her blue "Farewell" dress, but have almost no knowledge of sewing. Which I really have no excuse for since my mom's a master seamstress, so I need to learn one of these days. I doubt I'd be able to match this though!
