Second Chances


If we could meet a second time

It’d be here
and now

In this time and place.


And we’d dance through our dances
And sing through our songs
Hellos and heys
So longs and goodbyes

But neither would be sad
When the time came to part
Because this time we would know

Nothing could separate us.
And we would meet again.



If we could meet a second time

Would things be better
and clearer?

Or would we still be a mess?


Would you introduce yourself as
Simba?
The president’s son?
A magician?
Edward Elric?

Or simply as the boy I love
and know you to be?

It would never be as glorious
as the first

Gosh, I have had such trouble with the very first of the 100 themes challenge prompt of “Introduction”! Yes, I know that one isn’t supposed to be that difficult, and I could always skip ahead if I wanted to, but I wanted to do these challenges in order.

And yes, my boyfriend has actually claimed in the past to be Simba, the president’s son, a magician, and Edward Elric, depending on how old we were at the time or what sort of mood he was in.

So the other day I trotted out with my camera, went all the way to the back of my backyard (yeees, this really is in my backyard.) and then I saw that all these little white flowers had popped up overnight. So then as I snapped pictures of the flowers, this poem thing popped in my head to match. So finally, FINALLY, I have something for the “Introduction” prompt, and I can move on to “Love” which will be loads easier.

At least, I hope so…
