Princess Tutu // Shall We Dance? by adrawer4ever Princess Tutu // Shall We Dance? by adrawer4ever
Tutu was my jam as a magical girl I loved the animation style and character designs to pieces and I loved classical music, theater, fairytales, and dance so this was right up my alley. Like so many I didn't expect the amount of plot and existential depth Princess Tutu had to offer. Ahiru was such a warm and surprisingly tragic heroine even though she never gave into helplessness. I really admired her humility and earnest wish to help the Prince and everyone she came acrosss without expectations. She continues to give me a sort of hope that even a little unassuming duckling can do great things.

More sketchbook work from when I started allowing myself to draw fanart again. I was really digging a colored pencil style and thought Tutu would be a great subject for soft colors like this. But boy this style does not lend itself to easy scanning.

I love this! Seriously, this was my magical girl fix. And I totally understand what you mean by coloring with soft colors (or coloring softly). I have this one picture on here where I didn't sketch with a pencil and just used color pencil. It was such a pain to scan and then fix with saturation and all that in order for the colors just to show up. Beautiful work :)
