Godzilla Alignment Chart - Heisei by Adiraiju Godzilla Alignment Chart - Heisei by Adiraiju
Just an interpretation for the alignment chart meme, as pertaining to the Heisei series of Godzilla movies (and the Rebirth of Mothra Trilogy). The quotes are all of my own invention, based on what I think they might say about their situation and worldview. I took some time in thinking about where to place them - some took more time than others. Enjoy!

I would do King Ghidorah for lawful evil instead, as he was being controlled by the Futurians to do evil things, but otherwise nice!

It's funny that in this alignment chart, as well as the Millennium, that Lawful Good is represented by Mechagodzilla rather than Baragon or Mothra.

Destoroyah is definitely chaotic evil. He kind of reminds me of Frieza.

Not bad, though I say him as more of a Cell sort of guy who doesn't give a damn about others, seeing himself as perfect and infallible.

What does "Mene Mene Tekel Upharsin" mean?

It's a reference to the story of Belshazzar's Feast in the Book of Daniel. When Belshazzar, the last king of Babylon, was holding a party, a fiery hand appeared and wrote those words on the wall. The prophet Daniel had to translate them; they meant "You have been weighed, and found wanting. Your kingdom will be given to the Persians (and Medes).

Battra is more Lawful Evil and Space Godzilla is more Chaotic Neutral with Godzilla being Lawful Neutral. Everything else is pretty correct.

Awesome, bud. Just like the Showa Era chart. Now let's get these guys 'n gals down, shall we? Also, i'm sorry if this might be a bit too long for you:

-I like how SMG is a contrast to mecha g one: a mechanized robot designed to serve his creators. But instead of being for bad, he's a force for good. And he doesn't play the terminator game, either. He's just the heavy weapon's bot. Here to blow up monsters, take names.......and steel mecha-sandwiches.;)

-Leo has always been my favorite variant of Mothra. While i haven't watched all of the movies minus #3, i can definitely say i'm quite familiar with the son of mothra. And he's awesome. Of course, he's neutral like his mother, but he's definitely more believing in humanity's potential, and is willing to fight for them. And since noone ever did anything to Moll, and Lora, that can be considered a guarantee.:)

-Ah, Fire Rodan. The only other earth kaiju aside from Mothra to return in a new series. All of them, in fact. But it was cool how he was pretty much a guardian to Jr when he was an egg. I like thinking that they really did come from the same nest, and Rodan considers him a sibling. Even if he's not the same species. And the quote definitely defines his devotion, and loyalty to keeping his little brother safe. It just makes me wish we could've seen more of their relationship. I mean, he was willing to give up his own life to give Jr a chance with Godzilla. Seeing the two together would simply be enjoyable to watch.

-Battra reminds me of someone. A character who is also this level of neutral, considers humanity a bad, and feels he must destroy them to keep the earth safe. Don't remember the name, but it doesn't matter. Because this is very good with how it defines Battra as a whole. A lethal protector who views humans to be as dangerous as any alien, or outside force that endangers the earth. And it's cool seeing his dynamic with Mothra as her moral opposite. The guardian who makes the hard choices, and does what needs to be done. Even if he has to fight Mothra a 1000 times to do it. I always enjoy seeing that, and that's also why i love Battra.

-A true example of a tragic character. Just like people such as Mr Freeze, or even Macbeth, life simply seems to enjoy screwing with her. All ending with her trapped as a hybird abomination, clashing with the Gojiran half for control. A conflict between peaceful humanity, and destructive savagery. And the quote perfectly conveys the whole tragedy of it, while also bringing up an interesting possibility. What if Biollante has three personalities inside of her (erika, gojira, herself), and all 3 of them are in eternal conflict for control. Just like coldstone from "Gargoyles". This is just another example of how dangerous it is to tamper with nature, and even play god. The rose which grows will have the sharpest of thorns.

-Speaking of tragic beings, Godzilla definitely fits the bill here. Because while he unintentionally helped out the Japanese forces on his Island, and got injured as a result, they repaid him by leaving him to die. I know it wasn't their fault because they just didn't have the means of helping him. But obviously that's not how he see's it. He was clearly effected by what happened back then, and it's helped mold him into the anger filled kaiju he is. One who lets his anger control him, and lead to him ravaging Japan as punishment for their desertion. His way of "thanking" them for what happened. But considering how he's fought against greater threats, he shows he isn't completely evil. And they way he's raised Jr shows that he at least wanted to do right by something. And i think he may have succeeded in that. Even up to his dying days.

-But now, we get to one who IS evil. And few can get as bad as Spacegodzilla. I definitely love how you convey his views of perfection through his abilities, and his desire to conquer, and rule all. To me this makes him a good combination between cell, and Megatron. Cell for the idea of perfection, as well as intelligence, and Megatron for his ruthless, and merciless bid for totalitarianism as he tries subjugating the world. A powerful monarch with no regards for anyone other than himself, and is nigh impossible to defeat, considering how long, and how much it took Godzilla to destroy him. That alone makes him one of the greatest threats of the toho franchise.

-I think this one explains it perfectly: Dagarah is the kind of being who simply takes what he can with no regards for anyone. All he gives is a whole species of toxic barem which kills everything they touch. This guy definitely feels like a self-centered scumbag who would throw his own friends under the bus to save himself. And i imagine it to be true, too.:)

-Oh, man. Here's a big one. And is also quite enjoyable because of his vile nature. Like many of the savage, and vicious villains that have lived: he's not one who can be negotiated with. Can't be bought, bribed, or reasoned with. He just wants to watch the whole world burn. And the quote is good, too: completely simplistic, and yet still narrows down Destoroyah to a T. If anything, though, he seems more like Carnage in how he may view death as the natural way of things. And i think for Destoroyah, death is a natural force. As a product of the OD, i think it's reason for existing was embedded into him. As such, he is a living force of death, and destruction. it's all he knows, and all he every can be. Maybe that's why he didn't take any visual pride in killing Jr. Aside from the kid making it personal, it's also just him doing his thing. We can still hate him for it, but i think we can also consider that killing may be second nature to him. Doesn't mean he shouldn't be stopped. In fact, it'd be pretty important. But i feel like this is also what makes him a very cool character, and a terrific antagonist. A harbinger of death who looks like a devil.

And there we go. Again, sorry if it's pretty long. But i had much to say about the individual, and i just couldn't keep it limited. Hopefully, you can understand.:)

Thanks, and the length is no problem at all!
-Yeah, that sums SMG up pretty well. I figured that storylines with talking kaiju would have the mechas have AI systems not unlike J.A.R.V.I.S., subject to control but able to provide a backup if communications got cut off.
-Battra I saw as something of a cross between Shadow the Hedgehog and Ra's al Ghul. He honestly believes in what he's doing, and his actions are for a greater good, but his draconian methods effectively neutralize the sympathy we might have had for him. He lacks Mothra's sense of justice, and is more interested in simply destroying anything he deems a threat to the world's security.
-Biollante is indeed a character with some serious dissociative identity issues. I suppose Biollante would be the "dominant" personality, a calm, blunt, quietly unhappy figure who hates her life, but doesn't see much of any way out, and is generally a heroic individual who spends a lot of time in meditation to mentally train herself to keep in control. Godzilla is constantly fighting for control, but Biollante generally keeps him under a tight lock and key, which can sometimes break if she gets really mad. Poor Erika is seen the least often, but Biollante can bring her out from time to time if she's needed. By human standards, she's mentally ill, but she's interested in doing the right thing.
-Godzilla is indeed a tragic figure who just flat-out resents what people have done to him. He really isn't evil at all, just very, very angry and resentful. Were I ever to show the original Gojira in these, I think the most accurate description of him would be
"chaotic proud, furious, and miserable".
-Interesting, I honestly wasn't thinking of Cell or Megatron - I was thinking of Gul Dukat and Khan Noonien Singh. The latter shows his arrogance, his lust for power and control, and the fact that he really is better at just about anything and everything than everyone around him (much to the annoyance of the figure who he sees as his most personal rival). The former, however, shows his magnificent horribleness. He's capable of being charming and seemingly friendly when it suits him, and he'll even help the heroes out when he needs to, to the point where some people find him quite sympathetic - but in the end, he is an EVIL figure with absolutely no remorse for the atrocities he's committed, and a desire to commit still more should the opportunity arise.
-You nailed it with Destoroyah; I always saw her as a cross between Carnage and Doomsday. However, I do also have a story in mind wherin she sees herself - and Godzilla - as literal personifications of weaponry and all that it entails. Junior, in her eyes, is a flaw in Godzilla's nature as a WMD, but one with potential for continuing the lineage of nuclear weaponry into the future. Her murdering him was her way of cutting off an escalation of rival arms, and for seeing Godzilla unleash his full potential, causing an endless war between them that would be the ultimate conflict between weapons themselves. She massively underestimated his capacity for rage, however, and tried to run off when she realized Godzilla was heading for a meltdown faster than ever because of his desire to flat-out see her dead.

Okay, that's good. Cause i can get pretty analytic with things like this:
-Ah! So you thought of that idea, too, huh? Cause i always figured it would be cool if the mechs had some form of A.I. to make them sentient enough to be considered individuals, and fight on a much better playing field. And so we can probably relate to them a bit more is they have personalities. That's always fun to see.:)
-Ah, i see. So he serves as the literal anti-version of Mothra as Ra's al ghul does to Batman. And of course Shadow for being the anti-hero version of sonic.;) But i can see where you're coming from. Since both Ra's and Bat's are very similar in their intelligence, and their willingness to protect. But Ra's is about wiping out things he see's as a threat with no regards for the safety of the innocent. All he cares about is cleansing the earth of humanities evil. If he was REALLY willing, he'd probably sacrifice his daughter if the ends justified means. And Battra, i can honestly see as that. Especially after his role in the movie, and Rulers of Earth. He has a mission, and if he has to take Mothra out of the picture to get it done, then so be it. That's just how he works.
-Yes, that works well. Considering she's a living element of the earth, she probably is much more peaceful, and serene than we've seen. And perhaps the two sides really do serve as halves to her emotions: Godzilla is her wrath, and will basically take control once she snaps, and Erika is her compassion, sympathy, and reason. These do influence her, but not so much as she will let them control her. That's just another part of what makes her situation all the more saddening.
-Well, that's a fine way to rationalize him in a single sentence. While obviously noone completely sides with him for the destruction he causes, we still can't help but sympathize for him because we know his reasons. And in a sense, he's justified in that regard. But one can take solace in the possible fact that his death finally brought him peace.
-I see. Well, my mistake, then. I'm afraid i haven't heard of those two before, so i can't say i know them. But i do get the theme you were striving for. And i think you pretty much got it down well.:)
-Thought so. I did kinda figure Doomsday may have also been an influence for this one. But that is a very interesting headcannon for Destoroyah you have there. Not only the fact that he has a philosophy of some kind, but the fact that it's also similar to one the Joker has about how he, and Batman are so similar to each other, and that inevitably they can't really exist without each other. And his attacks on his friends, and family was his way of trying to prove a point. This idea seems pretty close, too. Except Destoroyah isn't as dead set into seeing Godzilla break when his own life is in peril. Even he's got his limits. But still, i do like that you gained a concept which could help make Destoroyah much more complex than he seems. That's always fine work to be had.:D
