It's been four years since my Kanto team and I were crowned the heroic champions of the Kanto E4 League Conference. I had also became champion in Johto, and eventually achieved "Global Champion" status, as a result of winning the Kalos E4 League Finals. Of course, becoming one of the first trainers in many years to have become Elite Four champion across 3 or more regions didn't come without consequences.
I lost more than I wanted to along the way, especially whilst in Kalos. But the Champion Battle was one me, the team, and...millions of people, Pokemon, and others alike will never forget.
One would've thought that a psychic fox whose very living presence rewrote statistics on "the life expectancy of Kadabra diagnosed with Nuzlocke Disorder" would've made it to five years, after barely surviving four.
Wow was EVERYONE wrong. It was all watched in the stadium...viewed on TVs, computers, and other devices...even listened to on radios...leading his team through the first four battles, he walked into what would soon become his very last battle...
A cracked Comet Shard, a dented Twistspoon, a fractured skull, a snapped neck, and a spine broken in two like a pencil...and a yellow fox embedded in the stadium's concrete wall, as if a meteor had crashed into the ground...
...not the kind of thing anyone would've wanted to see happen to someone looked up to, loved, and cared for by millions...
But it happened...and I still don't see myself ever being able to live it down.
I'd read to you what it says here on his...toetag, but I can't stop trembling, just holding it in my hand:
Time: 7:27 PM
Name: Abraham Johansson
Age: 22.5 (Physical); 5.9 (Chronological)
Species: Kadabra (Psychic Fox)
Location of Cadaver: [scribbled out with a Sharpie]
Cause of Death: Nuzlocke Disorder -- fractured skull, broken neck, and damaged spine from being hit by a foe's Shadow Ball, and hurled towards a wall during Champion battle
Now why did I scribble that part out? So that the truth cannot be known.
He flatlined in the hospital...then some shady people in suits escorted me to a private conference room. Meanwhile, the entire team is in deep sorrow. Walter biting his lip, fighting back tears. Geovanni outside at the balcony, roaring into the night sky. Arthur & Scorch II disappeared off to go on a stroll somewhere. Broderick & Norwood resting next to one another in the waiting area. And Lawrence sitting next to, and attempting to comfort the one man traumatized & scarred by what was seen at the stadium earlier that evening...
...as far as I could recall, I don't think I ever heard a grown man cry the way he did...shaking, crying, and simply overwhelmed by his emotional outburst to even utter out a full sentence...understandably so, given he was after all, Abraham's boyfriend. A long time friend since Kanto, becoming bros later on, eventually realizing they some something even more in each other, thus coming out & becoming boyfriends ever since their reunion in Vanville on Christmas Eve. But now...Nuzlocke Disorder has forever separated the two...a part of Mitch lived inside Abraham, and had died along with the Kadabra, leaving the distraught Hitmnonchan heartbroken.
Me...let's just say I was like a Slowpoke; too many thoughts going through my head at once, that I cannot process anything. In short...mindf**k.
Apparently Silph Co. and Devon Corp. had been fully aware about Abraham's unusually long life. Virtually no Kadabra would last more than anywhere between a month & a year with Nuzlocke Disorder.
If that was the case, why did one Kadabra managed to survive for nearly five times as much time?
And why did that Kadabra have a star on his forehead resembling a Comet Shard, rather than the star one would find on the forehead of a normal Kadabra?
"They" decided...Abraham could be the first carrier of Nuzlocke Disorder to receive it...
...the cure. The solution to Silph Co's attempt at population control gone awry.
One small pill, no bigger than gum ball. A shiny gold color, a smooth texture like a Poke Block, shaped like a diamond.
Revitalus Immortalis Type-ϵ ...once administered, the consumer is revived, healed to optimum health and kept that way...eternally.
But this supposedly priceless medicine, with years of top secret development invested into it, had a price...the consumer cannot age anymore. He will not be able to evolve anymore.
And the worst of them all...he can never be seen alive.
And that was how it happened. Abraham's "funeral" was a cover-up. Only I knew the truth. Me...and the highest positioned workers of Silph Co. and Devon Corp.
I took Abraham's lifeless (yet preserved) body to a small lab, located inside my real home. Far away from the regions. As I spent nearly two weeks nonstop working on him, the rest of the team remained at home back in Vanville Town, more miserable than ever before.
