La Brea Woman Awakening - Ultimate Master Revision

NOTE: There is a special little art-improvement chart of mine that you are *most* welcome to check out callled “La Brea Woman Awakening (The Overall Improvements)” which shows you a good example of just how much I have actually improved on my art quality overall. :floating: See it right here now: [link]

On this artwork’s initial 5/16/2012 release on dA:

Overall Combined Time: 26hrs., 22mins. total
Software Used: Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7
Total Layers: 22 layers
Tools Used: Mouse only; ABSOLUTELY NO drawing tablet whatsoever!!! :D !!
References Used: NONE.

Imagine... somewhere in a far-distant prehistoric era, where deep in the well-hidden and endless primeval quicksand-like swamps of such darkest, softest, stickiest, and ohhhh-so-warm melted pitch, you see something slowly rising up to the surface.

A huge and viscous jet-black bubble emerging, perhaps?

No, but rather something so much more.... if you keep watching, you will finally see before your astonished eyes an ever-so-utterly gorgeous adult female spirit being made entirely out of the purest, living tar itself as she is slowly rising from this vast slime pit of such primordial ooze indeed, her ever-sticky yet quite so silky-smooth body an absolute sight to behold indeed!!!

    — from “Brea Woman Awakening” by Adigun Azikiwe Polack ( :iconadigunpolack: ), 2008

    :bulletred::bulletred: :blackrose: :bulletred::bulletred:

In the *very* honor of my upcoming birthday on the 28th of this month of May 2012 where I will officially turn 35 years old, I have a MOST spectacularly special artwork remake in mind for you, and it is quite a great shock to even me that it is based on my rather best-loved work of “Brea Woman Awakening”:

Based exclusively on my personal inspirations of having religiously learned and ever-sacredly studied about an utterly damn amazing and most rarest 1914 find of the *only* prehistoric human being that had successfully been unearthed from the Rancho La Brea Tar Pits in California, USA, “Brea Woman Awakening” not only began as my very first-ever prehistoric digital fantasy painting artwork that I had ever, ever created in my entire life period since its official release in this whole world-wide art community of deviantART on September 26, 2008, but it did something so rather unprecedented and quite stunningly groundbreaking in its own design, premise, originality, and execution: having the sacred spirit of La Brea Woman rise and rise slowly out of the bottomless, well-hidden, and ever so vast oozing quicksand-like swamps of such quite pleasantly warm, oily, active, softest, ever-yielding, and ohhhh-so-gooiest melted pitch in a far-distant prehistoric era with her head deeply tilted back so rather happily, which strongly symbolized and represented such an immensely incredible honor, glory, strength, and truest resurrection of woman in rather an unusual and extraordinarily more captivating way unlike anything you have ever seen in ancient history. :floating:  Furthermore, out of my entire dA gallery (found here: [link]), “Brea Woman Awakening” was my first and ONLY deviation ever that had successfully reached the magic number of 10,000 views (after having already been released for over 3+ years!!! :wow: !! ), with approximately 150 faves ( :+fav: ) and at least 80 comments, too.

Before you go any further, please take a listen to my very important words about more of my personal, personal inspirations for “Brea Woman Awakening” on my special 2009 Insight Commentary video on YouTube that I sure do not want you to miss (really good stuff here!!  !! ): [link]

So how do you make an already phenomenal piece of work EVEN BETTER, you ask? :?

Here is the answer to that from me, because here comes now the OFFICIAL 2012 digital painting remake of “Brea Woman Awakening” that I have just created in absolute honor of my own 35th birthday indeed, and the new one right here is most gracefully entitled:

La Brea Woman Awakening - Ultimate Master Revision
    ( ラ·ブレア女性目覚め - Ultimate Master Revision )

...and for a change, I decided to simply give you the ultimate artwork present for you all to so deeply enjoy in time for my very birthday and more, right out of the generosity of my rather very own heart — with a deepest love for the artistic creativity of both originality and how much I have actually, ACTUALLY improved between my 2008 original and this newest remake which has a massive design overhaul for starters!! :D

The original “Brea Woman Awakening” was already in High Definition (or HD) to begin with with a resolution of 1920x1080; in the all-newest 2012 remake “La Brea Woman Awakening - Ultimate Master Revision”, however, every single detail and more (all in a much, *much* higher 4K HD resolution of 4096x2304) has been thoroughly redesigned, remastered, and revisioned by me from ground one and building on up and up and WAY up from there and continuing consistently all the way up to the very, very end — all using just Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7 and ONLY a mouse alone without even a drawing tablet period — and just look at how absolutely resplendent it is now, especially considering the comparisons between my 2008 original of this and the 2012 re-design indeed. :rose: !!!

A monumental achievement for me personally and then some, wouldn’t you say!? :spotlight-left: :star: :w00t:  :star: :spotlight-right:

I will especially, especially dedicate this official new digital painting work of “La Brea Woman Awakening - Ultimate Master Revision” to:

...who said most splendidly and completely wonderfully to me in her own comment on my original piece of “Brea Woman Awakening” back in 2008:

:+fav: This is beautiful... it reminds me of a dream
I once had, during a difficult period in my life...
I was trying to swim through and emerge from
a lake of tar... so, this speaks to me personally.
It honors the natural strength and beauty of all
    women. Sophquest

Truest words to live by.  !!!

Also, this piece is dedicated as well to these quite magnificently amazing people right here:

...not only in honor of my upcoming 35th birthday, but I want to show them all just how much I have really, *really* improved and improved more brilliantly in my overall own art quality since I first signed on to deviantART as a member on November 28, 2006.

And more importantly as well, this piece is for all of my watchers as more a generous way of celebrating my birthday with this new 2012 remake digital-painting artwork that you see right here, too!!! :cuddle: :+favlove: !!!

With all of that said and done as I continue to completely blow away the lame and stereotypically hackneyed ‘quicksand peril’ stuff out of the water with my fresh and mind-blowing new originality of using quicksand/tar to symbolize such great immortal beauty in the rise and resurrection of women (representing such splendid hope and ever-glorious new life, rather than the usual fear, dread, and death that is typically associated with quite a ton of quicksand scenes these days!)... just like I did with these previous other digital painting works that I created myself from over the recent years:

...and finally, when it comes fair, square, and truly final to “La Brea Woman Awakening - Ultimate Master Revision”:

May the resplendent resurrection of La Brea Woman be so immortally sacred in our most deepest hearts... FOREVER!!!
:blackrose:  :blackrose:

UPDATE (May 18, 2012 at 8:00am EST):
Using only a mouse alone still, I touched up the clouds a bit to make give them even more consistency with the background, while adding rather more well-needed details to the mountains. Forgive me, but since this is really my VERY first time actually doing the mountains in pure digital painting form at all period, I had to make plain and closely damn sure that they look right and convincing instead of them looking a little goofy somehow, as I found out since the initial 5/16/2012 artwork release of “La Brea Woman Awakening - Ultimate Master Revision” on dA... but I am SO GLAD I have fixed them to make them look even better. See, I may not be a perfect artist, but at least I am definitely fricking improving on my overall art quality and getting *really* plain good at it, to be sure!!!  !!!

UPDATE #2 (May 19, 2012 from 4:38am-8:22am EST):
Touched up the central part of the mountains a little more (since there was some detail a little quite missing, so I had to correct the situation right there! :aww: ), and also, added some small dabs of extra lighting as well to them... all using the mouse only, of course. Now, they should look MUCH better for this picture indeed... first time for everything indeed!!! :peace: !!

The remake is just awesome! The pit is smoother, and it's got museum quality!

Well you know I already loved your 2008 version, right? First off, redoing this great piece of art from scratch is a challenge (I guess size matters here ;) ). For sure the bigger resolution allowed for better fine-tune of every single little detail.

What I like here is the sensual curves of this womanly spirit. She looks gorgeous and even closer to *the* woman. I however miss the nice ripples from the initial version but, as you'll probably say, ripples in a tar pit don't make much sense, it's not water. On the other hand the new background with mountains enlightened by the first rays of the Sun this is the dawn of a new age and something splendid is going to rise.

Thank you very much for this dedication, Adigun.

Love how you can do a girl who enjoys a nice Tar bath.

I wonder if it is possible to have a Tar volcano without the lava?
AdigunPolack's avatar
First of all, TBoneTony, it is *quite* a pleasure to touch base with you on dA once more... long time, no see!!! :floating: :star:

Secondly, since this picture is called “La Brea Woman Awakening - Ultimate Master Revision” as a brand-new 2012 remake of my 2008 original called “Brea Woman Awakening”, both of those artworks are specifically all about the beautiful and mighty spirit of La Brea Woman rising slowly out of the bottomless and viscous quicksand of sticky, active, most pleasantly warm, and quite insatiably slimy melted pitch as she oozes and awakens gradually yet most truly damn beautifully, symbolizing an amazing resurrection of this strong and powerful independent Native American woman of the prehistoric age like you have never seen before (although, your input here on this picture is just not as bad either! ). You should really check out the many significant improvements that I made between my 2008 artwork original and this newly-current remake of mine indeed, and you are MOST welcome to see them all right here in this art community at once now ( ): [link]

Furthermore now, as for your saying of a possibility of having a “tar volcano” without the lava, YES, there is such a thing as that. :D In quite fact, TBoneTony, there is *actually* a small one on the ground surface that was being photographed way rather back on back on October 16, 1906 in the Carpinteria Asphalt mine in Santa Barbara County, California, USA... more than 100 YEARS ago!!! :wow: !! The picture is available for you to see just to believe that it truly exists indeed, shown for you right here that I have well-spotted at the time of this very reply from me: [link]

And, there is another type of tar volcano that is more of a subterranean nature, called specifically an “asphalt volcano” that was first discovered in 2003, according in part to this Wikipedia entry for it that you can check out as well right here: [link]

Going right back to my newest work of “La Brea Woman Awakening - Ultimate Master Revision”, the sticky, ever-yielding black quagmire of ohhhhh-so-warm melted pitch itself is just QUITE amazing and rather splendidly convincing here — thick, gooey, slow-flowing ripples and all as the wonderful tar spirit of La Brea Woman emerges. And that is just for starters, actually!!! !!

Be sure not to miss them all (including the couple of links that I just gave you in this very reply), and I thank you so much for the fine comment, my man!!! :cuddle: :peace: !!

thanks for letting me know about tar volcanoes.

I often have thought of a quicksand volcano or a large mud volcano.

I know that in some volcano areas there are large bubbling mud pits, so I did often wonder about a large hill of just warm tar.
AdigunPolack's avatar
Really plain fascinating material when you think about it, you know that!? :floating:  !!

Speaking of which, TBoneTony, I had never, EVER known much about a tar volcano at all... that is, until you first mentioned about it to me in wording of your first comment to me on this artwork piece of mine just yesterday (which made it quite interesting indeed, by the way!! :D ). Rather such an amazing discovery in itself, this one; I agree with you!!! :aww:

And you are *most* splendidly welcome, by the way. :star:

Hey Congrats for your upcoming birthday!!
nice pic! love the liquid effect and the BG
AdigunPolack's avatar
First of all, my phenomenally ever-great Genzo, THANK YOU so much quite handsomely on wishing me a happy 35th birthday, and that is most splendidly appreciated indeed from my heart to yours!!! :rose: !!

Secondly, it is always an exciting damn pleasure to hear your wonderful, well-honest input on my new artworks whenever I show them to you personally upon their opening release on deviantART... and on this picture of “La Brea Woman Awakening - Ultimate Master Revision” where you just said that you truly loved the liquid effect as well as the entire background itself, this is sheer, sheer evidence and a magnificent testament as to how much I have *really* improved and improved big upon my own works — especially since this is an official 2012 remake of an already greatly loved work of mine from 2008 called “Brea Woman Awakening” ([link]), as clearly outlined in my art description of this 2012 remake right about near the top of the deviation page for this newest picture, so please give it a good read for a lot of important details. :floating: :star: !!

And also, Genzo, seeing as how I am showing you just how much I have phenomenally improved on my 2008 original right here, I want you to take a much closer look at “La Brea Woman Awakening (The Overall Improvements)” as I want to give you some all-important details as to how much I have really, really stepped up the overall art quality indeed and made things much, much better and more clearly: [link]

Once again, I GOTTA THANK YOU EVER SO MUCH for no less than your amazingly resplendent time and your phenomenally awesome words on “La Brea Woman Awakening - Ultimate Master Revision”... always an honor!!! :cuddle:  !!!
