Some probably remember this issue from little over 2 years ago. Here was my previous journal:
Net Neutrality?UPDATE: Meh, on either side of the coin consumers lose. This entire video is very informative, but the conclusion is well also: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Z_nBhfpmk4&feature=player_detailpage#t=4176 Here's my personal conclusion: "Even if someone could press a reset button with neither the government nor the telecom companies having any financial or regulatory involvement with each other, one or the other will inevitably get back together to fiddle around with the lives of others." See comments below for details if you're interested. ^^'
Call your senators, please: https://www.battleforthenet.com/?call_tool=1
I left two messages! ... I admit it felt awkward, but I did it. Call and preserve Net Neutrality and tell senators to support reclassifying Internet access under Title II of the Telecommunications Act. Why? The Internet is a great way to spread the Gospel, s

So, while I’m not a fan of big assumed federal government, I’m also not a fan of oligopolies. Crony Capitalism is just as bad as Democratic Socialism. That said, eBay sent a message linking to netneutrality.internetassociat… and Etsy sent a message which linked to www.battleforthenet.com/?utm_s… .

On the www.battleforthenet.com/?utm_s… page, they had a selection of videos form popular channels, and the first one I watched really seemed to strike pretty square with my thoughts. That said, I know very little about this guy, other than I remember his Chocolate Rain video that went viral.

However, I have to agree with Lou Prado’s comment:
“Fantastic!  However, your analogy at the end regarding the roads is too optimistic.  While the road provider may promise a faster road to one restaurant over another, in reality you may never get that "faster" road since it is more profitable to put pot holes in the slow road which transforms the previously standard road into the "fast" road.”

Further down the battleforthenet.com page, it says, “They are Team Cable. They want to end net neutrality, to control & tax the Internet.” And has the logos for Comcast, Verizon, Time Warner Cable, and  AT&T. I’d like to note that I don’t think there’s a single global-wide company I hate more than AT&T. They bought DirecTV, (which explains why their hardware tech-support service is now practically worthless). But did you know AT&T is in the the process of acquiring Time Warner Cable? Ever heard of Google Fiber? Because of the likes AT&T, they have trouble making headway.

Of course this kind of thing also happens on the local level. Perhaps you’ve heard of Buc-ees? If you’re form Texas, more than likely you know and have probably been to one. I detest Buc-ees, because like AT&T, they are a sue-happy bunch who doesn’t like the idea of competition:

They even sued their own brisket supplier! :iconapplejackreally: Also, they sadly have money invested into Republican representatives, to represent their interests of course, (not yours).

So, all this talk about a self-regulating industry vs. government control. What’s best? Well, the answer from each side is probably something along the lines of, “that which gives us more money and control over the market.” I mean, the government can be bought and sold depending on who’s in office right? That’s what lobbyists get paid to do. And likewise the government can buy and sell whomever they want. Remember all the bailouts? I mean, it’s not like it’s their money anyway. (Or that they technically even have money being multiple trillion in the red.) The private banks suck it up form both sides, particularly the Fe‏deral Re‏serve, (whom other banks have vested stock interests).

All this beating around the bush! Why can’t we get to the heart of the matter, (the hearts of mankind that is)?

1Tim 6:6 Now godliness with contentment is great gain.
1Tim 6:7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
1Tim 6:8 And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content.
1Tim 6:9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.
1Tim 6:10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. [emp. added]

Certain people just love their money too much to value their own human decency, or ever their own soul.

Since we’ve actually had Net Neutrality passed without hazardous effects insofar as I can tell, I think we should probably keep it around while the likes of companies like AT&T are chomping at the bit to make more money while still providing poor service. That’s my :twocents:. :)
