Searle by AdamBurn Searle by AdamBurn
The third installment of my Sunshine series of quick paintings. This is the scene which shows the Icarus's doctor and psych officer Searle standing infront of the big observation window. In this scene the suns light is shown at approx 4% as the window acts like a giant pair of sunglasses.

This one took abit longer than the last two mainly as I had to actually paint in the character and the window frames and the table, all together it took about 3 hours work, used the movie scene as referance as with the last one.

Technical stuffs:

resolution: 2492x1584 (odd numbers)
DPI: 500
Time: approx 3 hours
Layers: approx 30

Enjoy

Sadly no I did not, I did a series of images based on scenes from the film as practice with lighiting and layer modes. Sorry to have got your hopes up :ahoy:

Yeah it can be a small world, especially on Deviant Art, I keep finding art for games and films I've played and watched. I work in the industry myself working on a PC space RTS game.

so i am doing a painting for my friend who loves this movie... i am painting the sun with mercury passing in front of it... however, im not too experienced at watercolor painting but i love the look it has... idk if you can help me or not, but i am having trouble getting the brightness of the sun to show up, well, bright. i am guessing you may/may not know anything abt water color painting... however i figured it couldnt hurt to ask... please and thanks :]

Sadly I don't really know much about water colour, I've usually used acrylic when doing traditional paintings, one was to make areas seem bright is make a gradient blur around the area, how easy this would be with water colours though I am not sure

This is one of my favorite movies. I am fascinated by its cinematography. Extremely well rendered, I would be the guy on that observation deck. Keep up the great work

It is wonder if the person does get blind. Maybe the protective frame is very powerful that it greatly nerves the intesity of the rays.
But I am yet to see one of these creations in the real world.

Its from the movie sunshine, on the ship there is an observation deck with an adjustable tinted view screen, this is set at 3% actual brightness in the movie

Very nice work.
Pretty good movie, not a WOW, but nice movie anyway. It was kinda abstract near the ending, i liked it although it also was a bit confusing.
By the way, i like the typography, but it takes too much attention from the rest of the image in my opinion.

Cool, I'm left stumped as to how they kept their ship at a cool temperature...But if it's anything like "The Core" the walls are filled with liquid Nitrogen to cool it down.
