Something has been bothering me somewhat as of late, more and more high end design is being created with perhaps a bit too much minimalism for my tastes, a blank slate is what is to be desired, so that nothing distracts you from the experience you are supposed to have, nothing in the way of its potential. Sounds nice like that, I'm talking touchscreens, the 'magic trackpad', kinect (not K'nex, which is still awesome), our bastard hob www.google.co.uk/products/cata… . All this plastic, glass, clean lines and shapes, and dare i say it? - The focus on the digital.
I've grown out of the habit now but when i was younger i was one of these people who used to run my hand along whatever i was walking past, tree, grass, building etc, i like that, i enjoy how stuff feels, and it worries me somewhat that design seems to be veering away from tactility. It may not be as stylish, efficient or pratical but i do enjoy the use of all my senses from time to time.
Side note: Toy story 3 is fantastic, thank god for the blokes at pixar.
