He chuckles in responce, which starts to turn into a complete laugh. "Anything like me, you say," Drake struggles to speak, "Well I'll tell you now, none of them are quite like me, but you should already know that, so I guess that puts reading someone's past off your list of possible abilities as well. You're turning out to be weaker than I would have hoped." He stands fully up, the hole in his chest no longer there, the only proof that he had been impaled was the giant bloody hole in his jacket, and a bit of blood still dripping from his mouth. Now half of the things he worried about her knowing he knows she didn't actually know, he grins at Nivan, obviously confident.
Nivan's face did not change, still keeping the same emotionless stare. "I admit I underestimated you, Drake, but if you really do want me to take this seriously, then so be it." With that, an immense amount of pain was delivered to Drakes brain, making it feel like his head was being crushed. Drake fell to a knee, unable to properly assess the situation, or create the words to respond to this horrible pain.
She chuckles, "Not so tough are you now hmm? You're weak compared to what I can really do, so I am going to spare you, and instead make you my puppet, you're a strong enough force to fight under my control, and if I lose you, the godslayers should send more little toys for me to play with." She holds out her hand, "Because that's all that mortals are to me; toys." Drake turns his head up to Nivan, one more time, before blurting out, "You..." He tries to continue, but the pain increases, making it impossible to think straight. She waves her pure-white hand in front of his face, and then snaps her fingers. Drake seems to fall over, his eyes closed, and breathing slowed.
The fog cleared away quickly, revealing a brown stone tileing underneath. "Sleep Drake..." Nivan says aloud, her mouth actually moving this time, "Sleep until I can find some way to be rid of you." There was nothing she could immidiatley think of, she wasn't per say just a mind goddess, more specifically just an insanity goddess. Her attacks would have no way of getting through his regeneration, and he's too clever for her to try and make him lose his mind. She was running out of options, and fast.
Maybe, she could use illusions, but she didn't know ebough about those he knew to mimic them. She might have been able to subdue him with her mind crush and sleep magic, but it might not work again. If it weren't for those damn humans that decided not to worship her shrines to bring them peace of mind, she wouldn't be in this situation, she would have all of her powers, and her magic would be stronger, but no, feeling at ease just wasn't enough for going to a shrine and requesting help.
They started beleiving in false gods, or that there were no gods. She had had a perfect control over the world before, they kept her strong and she protected them from each other, and many other threats to their world. So she let them go on their own, they seperated first, then waged wars, held grudges, made weapons of mass destruction to kill each other, and so, she started helping to put and end to them all, that's the track they were going down anyway, she beleived. And from their deaths will bloom a new species, not as smart, so more likely to worship her without question.
Yes, her intent was to kill off this sentient species, and try to make a new one, but she's not doing anything necessarily wrong, just exercising her power to give her her own world back. Why does she need to be killed? The thought bounced around in her head like a high speed rubber ball. Constantly racking at her brain. There's no need to kill her, it's just one planet, there can't be anyone 'that' important that she needs to be killed over threataning their lives.
She hears a chuckle behind her. "No, it can't be." Nivan stammers. Drake is standing fully up, with his scythe in his hand. "Hows a taste of your own magic?" Drake snickers to himself. "It's called Copy-Cat, any magic I had used against me, I can temporarily copy and use against them, I can only keep one at a time though, so, thought influence it was." "How did you break out of my sleep spell?" She asked, now frightened, her face finally showing emotion. "Well," he chuckles, "I've gotten enough sleep for the next couple dozen years or so, so sleeping spells don't work on me."
She freezes up, how can she beat him? He's immune to her sleeping, can regenerate from direct attacks, can deflect mental attacks back at her, and she had nothing else at her disposal. She fell to the floor, defeated. "I-I give... You win, just... Kill me already..." She slumped down. "I can't beat you, I am too weak in my current state, the humans of my planet are heading down a path of inevitable destruction. I... I failed my job as a goddess, and don't deserve to live as what I cannot be."
Drake chuckles again, "Took the words right out of my mouth, "You don't deserve to live as what you cannot be."" She feels something she has not felt before. Tears, her black beady eyes started to well up with tears. Drake holds his scythe out at his side. He speaks to her, "Yes, yes there is someone important on your planet." Nivan looks up at him, only to have a tear roll down her face upon shifting its gravity. "I don't know their name or gender even, but, I was issued to save them, from you." He rears back his scythe, approaching her.
He pauses, and his scythe disappears. "But as a mystic, I save people, no matter their gender, species, name or strength" He holds out his hand towards her. "So, I'm going to offer you a second chance." She was only more stunned, and confused. "W-what?" She blurts out. "I'll tell my boss you will revise your mistakes, and tell you this now; as a god, you don't keep everything in order, on balance, you do keep this type of chaos from happening. Let them do their own thing, don't make them into mindless followers, and if they stray from the path you want, do not kill them to try and reset your mistakes."
She starts to reach out for his hand, but hesitates. "But, there's no way at this point I can bring anyone back from this..." Drake chuckles. "Sure you can, you have thought influence. Besides, you'll have some 'motivation'." Nivan cocked her head to the side, curious. And with one quick movement he was holding his scythe's point at her throat. He grinned devilishly. "So don't step out of line." He lowers his scythe. "Plus, once you get the majority of your strength back, you'll be a better challange." Nivan grins, "Fine, that's a good enough reason for me to try again, next time though. I'll kick your ass." Drake smiles back, and responds, "That's more like it."
He holds out his hand again, which Nivan grabs and is pulled up. She is quite light, she feels almost hollow, and her hand hand feels like it is made of felt, like it's kind of soft. Her face returns to being expressionless once she stands upright. "Next time, I won't go easy on you." Drake promises. "Well next time," Nivan responds, "I won't be so gullible. So don't get killed before then." "Me? Die? Come on, don't be rediculous." He chuckles, and she looks downwards, almost looking down at her planet of life.
"Well then, if you don't mind," Nivan says, "I have something, I now need to attend to." "Of course, I have to get back to our base anyway, otherwise my boss'll kill me, probably a few times over." Drake responds. A small smile appears on Nivan's face, but goes away quickly, returning to it's stolid state. "Well," Drake grins, "I might have to come back here just to kick your ass a second time, so you'd best be prepared." Nivan chuckles, her overconfidence restored, "Don't lie to yourself, it's my job to make you do that." Drake nods and takes a few steps back. Nivan bows her head, and suddenly poofs into fog, disappearing.
Drake pulls a small green crystal from his pocket, and throws it against the ground, it shatters and then vanishes, moments later, Alice's ship appears in the air, and starts to land down next to him, a door on the side flinging upwards, which Drake quickly steps into, and it closes behind him.
The door to Alice is open, and she quickly looks back at him. "Can you confirm the kill?" She asks, "Because this place is still pretty stable for there being a lack of a god." Drake shakes his head no in response, "Gave her a second chance, granted that the boss is probably gonna have something to say about it, she 'deserves' a second chance, she's not evil, just, didn't pick up on the whole, 'dimensional hero' thing." "Ohhh, but you know how the boss gets about this kind of thing Drake, you're really asking for it." "Yes," Drake replies, "But I'm willing to put up with it, I saved a life I could have, and should have taken. But i think that in the future, she could help me with training, so it might be out of greed, rather than kindness that I did it, but, hey, what can ya do?" "...Drake," Alice responds, "You really are an idiot and a lunatic, but, I guess that's what makes you tolerable, you're always full of suprises." Drake grins, "I try my best."
