The Start Of The Shadow Wars
Athernaz, the place where anyone can get along with anyone, because anyone is welcome. People have nearly everything here, magic, tech, stories, romance. It could almost be called a utopia. A young, pure-white haired girl was sleeping in her blank white room, which is what she has always known, she has azure eyes, and bright clothes, with strange technological pieces on her head.
She begins to shuffle around, and wake up, yawning and stretching. She stands up, and smiles. Holding out her hand, a line of light shoots out, landing on the ground and creating a humanoid shape, which slowly has color added to it, creating a man in an orange suit, with a blue tie. He nods and begins doing something whith his own light, creating a small cup of decaf coffee.
She launches another light, creating another person, this one has a red sweater vest, with a long sleeved white undershirt, and red plastic lined shades, with white arrows on them, this one was noticably taller than the first. He grins, giving a double thumbs up, and starts creating smaller people.
She grinned and shot another light, creating a femael with glasses, wearing a black shirt with a sideways thick green line, with

“No. No... That would be pointless. They'd just get themselves hurt, if Kiyan's group could not respond, he's either advanced ahead, fallen back, or the messanger was killed.”
The first voice originates from a tall, blonde man, in armour that reflects the colors of his surroundings, the red and gold carpet, the glow from the fires, and the dark bricks of the wall and floor, even the lack of a door where the carpet leads. He has a sword sheathed at his side, and a helmet in his arm.
The second voice, deep, and rough, comes from a giant, cloacked in shadow, the light of the flames stopping around him, revealing nothing but his ironclad legs upon his red throne. Which itself took up much of the massive chamber, making the knight seem like an ant in comparison.
“Then, shall we send out another messanger?”

Athernaz, the place where anyone can get along with anyone, because anyone is welcome. People have nearly everything here, magic, tech, stories, romance. It could almost be called a utopia. Almost, anyway. But, something we don't have is a prophet, or a soothsayer, or a fortune teller, or anything if the sort... I wish that even just one of us could have been able to see into the future. It would have saved countless lives.

Shadow, a being born of the void, one of three rivals to my strength, and a friend. He was a strange person, he was humanoid, however had many features of a wolf, but even further, he had so many features that were unique, not like anything I've seen before. He had black 'fur', if you could call it that. And red markings along his body. And when he spoke, it sounded like a symphonic melancholy. Chaotic, almost like he had multiple voices, yet calm, as they all merged together somehow.

He was a shadow magic user, he could craft matter from darkness, give it life, even sentience, and could clone a spell or weapon, perfectly mimicing it's power. He could do so much with the darkness, just the same as I can do so much with light, I always thought of us like that too, dark and light, yin and yang. You couldn't have had one without the other, two halves of a whole, even if we weren't in a relationship. But never, would I have thought, it would become good and evil.

It started with a question, that seemed innocent enough. "Hey, Pearl..." He had said, as calmy as he would have asked any question, "Do, you ever wonder, what it would be like, having, like 'every' magic power?" I took a moment to respond, the question coming unprovoked, "I, I guess I've pondered the thought before, why do you ask?" He dismissed my returning question, continuing along with his own thought, "Unlimeted magic energy, and so much you could achieve, so much you could control, even without anyones help." "I can barely handle keeping everything in Athernaz in check, if I had that much power, how could I keep it all?" He once again ignores me, and continues, "Think of it, how much you could do, why, I'd bet I'd even be able to actually defeat 'you' Pearl, the soul guardian."

He sounded so genuine about it, though it sounded like he was just daydreaming, it clearly wasn't a joke. "I mean, I guess you could..." I half-heartedly returned, not sure what to really say otherwise. "But," he said, "That would require a lot of work, and studying, yes for a great gain, but I could never really go through with it. Not when I'm as busy as I am." He went silent, and I didn't say anything. I had simply pushed it off, without really putting any more thought than that it was just a dream of his. I wish I had payed closer attention.

Next, he started disappearing, at first it was for hours, then days. When he would return, he would avoid me, and later, when he would disappear for weeks at a time, he would avoid everyone. It had me worried, but even then I tried to remain optimistic. I had assumed he had just been training. I refused to beleive he would be doing anything in secret, and so that was what I chose to beleive. In reality I was just turning a blind eye, unwanting to accept the truth I already saw.

One day, I caught him before his leaving, I finally managed to ask him where he was going all of this time, the responce, however, was unexpected. "It's not something you need to know, I have my reasons for my actions, and the ends justifies my means." And he disappeared without me being able to trace him, or continue my inquiry. I wish I could have followed him.

He's my friend, I would tell myself, over and over, I knew already what he was doing, I had seen it many times before. He was on a quest for power, to become stronger, but I couldn't get past it. Many people leave Athernaz to pursue something. Revenge, power, fame and glory, material belongings, few come back, but it felt strange, after not seeing him in nearly a year. But yet, he 'did' come back.

And it was possibly the most terrifying thing, to see his face filled with such malice and greed.

And possibly the saddest thing, to have to remove the soul of someone I was once so close with.
The Start Of The Shadow Wars
A bit of context as to who this 'Shadow' is, that threatened to destroy Athernaz

I asked my sister for a word, and she gave me "angel", so I made a story that was from Pearl, an angel's, perspective.

He chuckles in responce, which starts to turn into a complete laugh. "Anything like me, you say," Drake struggles to speak, "Well I'll tell you now, none of them are quite like me, but you should already know that, so I guess that puts reading someone's past off your list of possible abilities as well. You're turning out to be weaker than I would have hoped." He stands fully up, the hole in his chest no longer there, the only proof that he had been impaled was the giant bloody hole in his jacket, and a bit of blood still dripping from his mouth. Now half of the things he worried about her knowing he knows she didn't actually know, he grins at Nivan, obviously confident.

Nivan's face did not change, still keeping the same emotionless stare. "I admit I underestimated you, Drake, but if you really do want me to take this seriously, then so be it." With that, an immense amount of pain was delivered to Drakes brain, making it feel like his head was being crushed. Drake fell to a knee, unable to properly assess the situation, or create the words to respond to this horrible pain.

She chuckles, "Not so tough are you now hmm? You're weak compared to what I can really do, so I am going to spare you, and instead make you my puppet, you're a strong enough force to fight under my control, and if I lose you, the godslayers should send more little toys for me to play with." She holds out her hand, "Because that's all that mortals are to me; toys." Drake turns his head up to Nivan, one more time, before blurting out, "You..." He tries to continue, but the pain increases, making it impossible to think straight. She waves her pure-white hand in front of his face, and then snaps her fingers. Drake seems to fall over, his eyes closed, and breathing slowed.

The fog cleared away quickly, revealing a brown stone tileing underneath. "Sleep Drake..." Nivan says aloud, her mouth actually moving this time, "Sleep until I can find some way to be rid of you." There was nothing she could immidiatley think of, she wasn't per say just a mind goddess, more specifically just an insanity goddess. Her attacks would have no way of getting through his regeneration, and he's too clever for her to try and make him lose his mind. She was running out of options, and fast.

Maybe, she could use illusions, but she didn't know ebough about those he knew to mimic them. She might have been able to subdue him with her mind crush and sleep magic, but it might not work again. If it weren't for those damn humans that decided not to worship her shrines to bring them peace of mind, she wouldn't be in this situation, she would have all of her powers, and her magic would be stronger, but no, feeling at ease just wasn't enough for going to a shrine and requesting help.

They started beleiving in false gods, or that there were no gods. She had had a perfect control over the world before, they kept her strong and she protected them from each other, and many other threats to their world. So she let them go on their own, they seperated first, then waged wars, held grudges, made weapons of mass destruction to kill each other, and so, she started helping to put and end to them all, that's the track they were going down anyway, she beleived. And from their deaths will bloom a new species, not as smart, so more likely to worship her without question.

Yes, her intent was to kill off this sentient species, and try to make a new one, but she's not doing anything necessarily wrong, just exercising her power to give her her own world back. Why does she need to be killed? The thought bounced around in her head like a high speed rubber ball. Constantly racking at her brain. There's no need to kill her, it's just one planet, there can't be anyone 'that' important that she needs to be killed over threataning their lives.

She hears a chuckle behind her. "No, it can't be." Nivan stammers. Drake is standing fully up, with his scythe in his hand. "Hows a taste of your own magic?" Drake snickers to himself. "It's called Copy-Cat, any magic I had used against me, I can temporarily copy and use against them, I can only keep one at a time though, so, thought influence it was." "How did you break out of my sleep spell?" She asked, now frightened, her face finally showing emotion. "Well," he chuckles, "I've gotten enough sleep for the next couple dozen years or so, so sleeping spells don't work on me."

She freezes up, how can she beat him? He's immune to her sleeping, can regenerate from direct attacks, can deflect mental attacks back at her, and she had nothing else at her disposal. She fell to the floor, defeated. "I-I give... You win, just... Kill me already..." She slumped down. "I can't beat you, I am too weak in my current state, the humans of my planet are heading down a path of inevitable destruction. I... I failed my job as a goddess, and don't deserve to live as what I cannot be."

Drake chuckles again, "Took the words right out of my mouth, "You don't deserve to live as what you cannot be."" She feels something she has not felt before. Tears, her black beady eyes started to well up with tears. Drake holds his scythe out at his side. He speaks to her, "Yes, yes there is someone important on your planet." Nivan looks up at him, only to have a tear roll down her face upon shifting its gravity. "I don't know their name or gender even, but, I was issued to save them, from you." He rears back his scythe, approaching her.

He pauses, and his scythe disappears. "But as a mystic, I save people, no matter their gender, species, name or strength" He holds out his hand towards her. "So, I'm going to offer you a second chance." She was only more stunned, and confused. "W-what?" She blurts out. "I'll tell my boss you will revise your mistakes, and tell you this now; as a god, you don't keep everything in order, on balance, you do keep this type of chaos from happening. Let them do their own thing, don't make them into mindless followers, and if they stray from the path you want, do not kill them to try and reset your mistakes."

She starts to reach out for his hand, but hesitates. "But, there's no way at this point I can bring anyone back from this..." Drake chuckles. "Sure you can, you have thought influence. Besides, you'll have some 'motivation'." Nivan cocked her head to the side, curious. And with one quick movement he was holding his scythe's point at her throat. He grinned devilishly. "So don't step out of line." He lowers his scythe. "Plus, once you get the majority of your strength back, you'll be a better challange." Nivan grins, "Fine, that's a good enough reason for me to try again, next time though. I'll kick your ass." Drake smiles back, and responds, "That's more like it."

He holds out his hand again, which Nivan grabs and is pulled up. She is quite light, she feels almost hollow, and her hand hand feels like it is made of felt, like it's kind of soft. Her face returns to being expressionless once she stands upright. "Next time, I won't go easy on you." Drake promises. "Well next time," Nivan responds, "I won't be so gullible. So don't get killed before then." "Me? Die? Come on, don't be rediculous." He chuckles, and she looks downwards, almost looking down at her planet of life.

"Well then, if you don't mind," Nivan says, "I have something, I now need to attend to." "Of course, I have to get back to our base anyway, otherwise my boss'll kill me, probably a few times over." Drake responds. A small smile appears on Nivan's face, but goes away quickly, returning to it's stolid state. "Well," Drake grins, "I might have to come back here just to kick your ass a second time, so you'd best be prepared." Nivan chuckles, her overconfidence restored, "Don't lie to yourself, it's my job to make you do that." Drake nods and takes a few steps back. Nivan bows her head, and suddenly poofs into fog, disappearing.

Drake pulls a small green crystal from his pocket, and throws it against the ground, it shatters and then vanishes, moments later, Alice's ship appears in the air, and starts to land down next to him, a door on the side flinging upwards, which Drake quickly steps into, and it closes behind him.

The door to Alice is open, and she quickly looks back at him. "Can you confirm the kill?" She asks, "Because this place is still pretty stable for there being a lack of a god." Drake shakes his head no in response, "Gave her a second chance, granted that the boss is probably gonna have something to say about it, she 'deserves' a second chance, she's not evil, just, didn't pick up on the whole, 'dimensional hero' thing." "Ohhh, but you know how the boss gets about this kind of thing Drake, you're really asking for it." "Yes," Drake replies, "But I'm willing to put up with it, I saved a life I could have, and should have taken. But i think that in the future, she could help me with training, so it might be out of greed, rather than kindness that I did it, but, hey, what can ya do?" "...Drake," Alice responds, "You really are an idiot and a lunatic, but, I guess that's what makes you tolerable, you're always full of suprises." Drake grins, "I try my best."

Drake sat at the backseat of a small ship, the fabric of reality flying by his window. He is a part of a group of god slayers, and has been sent on another mission. He will be transported to a god's realm, kill them, and be brought back. Done and done.

He's being brought to the dimension now, however was not told anything about the god he will kill, or, attempt to, anyhow. He gets up, his white spikey hair barley touching the roof of the veichle. He readjusts his red leather jacket, over his white t-shirt underneath. And his red leather pants as well. Apperence is half the intimidation of a battle, and he was dressed to kill, in both meanings.

He headed up to the cockpit, hopefully his driver knew what he was up against. He knocks on the blast door that seperates the two rooms. It opens up shortly after, revealing a familiar person manning the ship. "Alice," Drake says, a half smile on his face as he walks up and lightly nudges her, "Didn't think you'd still be drivin' after what happened."

"Well," She responds, "it wouldn't have happened if you had just chilled the fuck out." Alice is an anthropomorphic snow leapord, with a bionic arm and left leg from the knee down, she was trained to pilot these dimension travelling jets, however recently she got into an 'accident' that cost her an arm and a leg. He chuckles, "Well I'm not here to apologize." "Didn't think you would be, asshole." "Geeze, what's with the namecalling? Heh heh." She sighs, and continues, "So what is it you want then?" "Just came to see if you knew anything about the god I'm fightin."

She keeps focused forward, but responds after a moment, "The Mind Goddess Nivan" "Gesundheit." Drake grins, Alice sighs, "I don't appreciate your sarcasm Drake." "Yeah well I don't appreciate your name calling, so we'll say it's even." She just shakes her head.

There is a bit of silence, and Drake speaks up again, "But on a more serious note, a mind goddess?" "Mental magics, obvioulsy including mind reading, so you can't try and pull your usual antics on her." "Brute force it is then." "Exactly what I was thinking" She slaps Drake across the face with her bionic hand, catching him off guard, and staggering him slightly. "What was that for?" He exclaimed. She chuckles lightly, and replies "Alright, 'now' we're even." Drake rolls his eyes in return.

"Alright," Alice says, moments later, "We are nearly at G-OS16, her pocket dimension has gravity, about .64 Gs, land, and no large structures, or, anything for that matter, the air is breathable, the whole thing is lit up, and it has low amounts of flowing magic, you're gonna have to finish this one quickly." She starts pressing switches and turning knobs. "Brace for entrance. In 5, 4, 3, 2, 1." The ship immidiatley starts shaking violently, and there is a sudden absence of gravity. Everything goes dark for a second, then there is blue sky, and an infinite expanse of clouds below them. Drake heads back to the other room. Alice nods. "Alright, dropping you off, good luck." "Thanks Alice, see ya soon."

The door closes, and the ground opens up below Drake, literally dropping him out of the ship. He dives headfirst at the clouds, but before he hits them he flips his body upright, jets of fire shooting out of his hands and feet, slowing him down before he hits the clouds. Upon contact, the clouds are solid, or covering something that is. They only go to about his knees. Drake stretches a bit, constantly looking around to find this 'Nivan'.

He had faced gods and goddesses before, and all for the same reason, they lost their followers, and unleash their wrath on the planet or planets they control. Gods get more power the more they are worshiped by mortals, and sometimes, multiple god slayers, or one of the really powerful ones will be sent to kill a god if they have too much power. Drake was not strong enough for that, and he never worked well in a group, so he would go solo after the weaker ones that needed to be eliminated.

He looked over to a side and saw clouds starting to change quite a ways off, something was parting them, approaching rapidly. He grins, and says to no one but him self, "There she is." He holds both of his hands at his side, and with a red glow, a scythe appeared in his hands, the blade; a dragon's fang. This was his weapon, befittingly named; the Drakefang.

He holds it back behind him, the blade glowing red with energy. "Let's get this started." He swings his scythe horizontally, a wave of flame shooting out and expanding, keeping the same intensity. The red glow of the fire expands outwards through the clouds, and seconds later a figure appears in the air not too far away from Drake, she has pure white skin, that looks like silk. She is covered in pink waving ribbons. Her eyes are pitch black, making her look like a mannequin.

"So... I see you have come to attempt to kill me, Drake." Nivan says, her lips not moving. "Well, guess that confirms the mind reading thing," Drake grins, "Unfortunatley I'm gonna have to kill you." "Not likely," She responds, her voice lightly echoing within Drake's mind, "You have killed gods and goddesses before, however none of my type." "Mind goddess, fire god, shadow goddess, it's all the same to me. You all need to be killed, and right now you are threataning lives, so right now, it's your turn to be killed."

The air thickens slightly, and the clouds start to rise, creating a cover, as it starts to slowly get thicker. The mannequin god disappears into the fog. "Cheap move, running away so you can try and see what makes me tick," Drake shouts at the fog, "Unfortunatley for you, you know you can't kill me." He was aware she would try to control his mind, take over when his guard is lowered, enough to make it seem like she hadn't, he'd be trapped in a reality of her creation, while in actuallity she would have complete control over his body.

He grins, knowing he was going to be here for a long fight, no doubt she knew too, and she knows he wouldn't do good over a long period of time, the lessened amount of magic flow creating a weakness for him. Drake did not move from his position, not knowing entirely what he was up against. Mind magic... The more he thought about it, the more different types of mind magics he thought of, mind reading, mind control, thought influence, past reading, movement influence, illusions, sleep, nightmares, memory make, the list went on in his head. His smirk started to fade.

He chuckles. Thought influence, can check that one off the list. His grin returned, more than before. "Clever, tryin' to get me to doubt myself. Won't be that easy, though, now I know something I have to look out for." "You're smarter than the rest of your species," The voice seems to echo within his brain, "Their minds were subdued to the point of insanity, not even knowing how." "You really are out to kill then, huh?" Drake rhetorically asks aloud, however his voice seems to drown out within the fog. "So can I ask why?" He continues.

As if in response, a lance-like spear of ribbons extends out of the clouds, impaling Drake before he could even react to it, the bloody tip stabbing into the ground. Drake coughs up blood, spewing it onto more of the lance, as it quickly retracts from him, leaving a hole in Drake's chest. The fog nearly instantly fades, Nivan floating in front of Drake.

"Well, that was boring, you didn't put up much of a fight." Nivan's white silky hand brings up Drake's chin, as she stares at the face of her victim. "Next time, send more capable slayers, I would like a bit more of a challenge, it will be fun to crush their weak minds, if they're anything like you."

My name is Ignus. I'm a fire demon. And christmas, isn't exactly my kind of thing. I like the cheer, and the decorations, and the whole 'give over get' thing, but... I have some history with it.

You might think being a living fire might be great for christmas, and the cold and snow, since I could just melt it away and be fine, unfortunatley, it works the other way. My body 'is' fire, so if I touch water, it gets put out, which causes an immense amount of pain to me, the cold, sucks away at my heat, putting my body in a slight but constant pain. Snow is the same getting hit with a snowball is like getting shot in the chest. So I never want to go outside, or participate in any of the 'fun' outside.

This, like anything, has consequences. Always staying inside has made me, "The Grinch of Athernaz" as they put it. I don't know how, when, or where it started, but it did, and I am honestly fine with it. Sure, about two weeks before christmas people start ignoring me, or avoiding me, and about a week afterwards it ends, but I can live with that.

It was Christmas morning, the dawn cracked over the horizon from my house, just another christmas morning, I'd stay inside all day and people would say things about me behind my back. I'd be making breakfast while the ice and weather mages make it snow. I sigh at the thought of it, what sounds like a crackling fire noise comes with it, "Might as well get an early start..." I force myself outside, heading towards the nearest produce store, always open early. Slipping on my black jacket to protect myself what I could, I walk out.

Only the early birds are up, Krystie, Johnatan, and a few others. I look up to the sky as I walk. That dark blue of the dawn sky, beautiful, to most, but only serving as a reminder to me again of my limeted time, and increasing my pace, the cold quickly taking it's effect.

I arrive shortly thereafter. Taking one last look at the sky before I walk in. A small, bird-like figure in the air catches my eyes, dragging clouds behind it, like it's pulling a blanket along the floor. Senora, a snow owl harpie, with weather magic. The literal early bird. She was probably bringing a small snowstorm with her, as the ground was barren of white, difficult for me to get through no doubt.

I rushed into the store, a face or two disappearing behind the shelves as I walked in. I tried to be quick about it, get out before it really started outside. I brought minimal things to the checkout counter, everything being done without eye contact or a word. At least she didn't insult me like I know some would.

I went to check a window, to see if I could still make it, but it might as well have been a blizzard out there. The ground already coverd in white, and the snow falling fast, some down draft or something. To go out there would be like walking out into needle rain, painful, and impossible to avoid. I'd have to wait it out. Another crackling sigh escaped me, I'll just find a corner to sit in.

I start to turn around, but someone opens the door, a girl, covered in white feathers, with black legs and a black beak, with deep blue eyes, much like a dawn's sky. Senora, the harpie girl who started the storm. And the weirdest part to me, is that she was looking at me, not sadness, fear, anger, but an almost glad look, like she had found what she was looking for. She did a waddleing motion to get over to me. I was confused, why me?

Senora, arguably the most enthusiastic about christmas, approaching the Grinch? The whole store went silent quickly, and it felt like everyone was giving her weird looks, myself included.
She spoke quietly, like she didn't want to be heard, "Uhh, Ignus?" I looked behind me a moment, she couldn't have been talking to me. "No silly, I'm talking to you!" I looked back at her, slightly in disbeleif. "Look," she said, trying to sound comforting, "I know you can't get home in this weather, and I'm not going to stop the snow just for you, but, I uhh, I can take you home by blocking the snow?"

I was stunned, it had come from nowhere, she wanted to help me? The outcast of Christmas? I couldn't get words out of me, I just stood in disbeleif. "Come on," She continued, blushing ever so slightly, "don't tell me I came down here for nothing." "I-I ahh" I fumbled over my words, looking around again at all the prying eyes surrounding us. My flaming face got hotter. "I uhh, appreciate the offer and all b-but..." "But what?"

She sounded so confident in herself, like she was proud to be helping the worst person to be around for christmas. I couldn't say no, who knows when the snow would let up, and she would be so disappointed, but if I said yes, she'd probably earn herself a nickname as well.

"I don't know..." I said, trying to clue her in, "I'm not really the type of person that you should be helping..." She smiled, and responded, "Nonsense! You have no way home, and I'm offering one to you." I looked around again, everyone was still looking at me. "If..." I started, "If I say yes, will you leave me alone afterwards?" She giggles, "No promises~" I look at the window again, it's starting to frost over.
"Ffffffine..." She gets giddy with excitement, making the scene only more awkward. "Hee hee! Come on then!" I grab up my stuff quickly, and quickly follow her.

Outside she is standing in a bubble of air, no snow getting in. I start to second guess myself, she's going to so much trouble to help me? I step into the bubble slowly, only more eyes looking at us when I walk out. "A-are you sure about this?" I ask. She nods,"Mmhmm!" I nod slightly in return, and she begins walking, with me along side her...

From that christmas forward things started getting better for me, I still couldn't go out in the snow or too cold, but people eventually stopped pushing me off, when I was out, people would talk to me, thanks to her. Truly, a small act, can make a huge difference, be it calling someone a name, or helping them out of a slump. So whoever may be reading this, today, just make a small act of appreciation, be someone's reason to smile. I have a reason to smile, and that's because of a small act of a friend.
