AssaultTech 1: BattleTech Low Poly Model

Currently working on refining models in AT1:BT, especially those that are done by people no longer helping AT1 out. (Big workload).

It still needs some tweaking done, I can take the polycount lower, shaving them off to make room for more details while staying below 2000 triangles.

The First Model was sitting at 2380 triangles, made when I was still green at low-poly modeling, so it ended up needing to be modified by Sake906.

The New Model is at 1988 triangles, including reference model parts for Sake906 to use for Animation points (otherwise, it's 44 triangles lower). If he doesn't need them anymore, they can be deleted easily.

I DID take creative liberties with the New Model, going so far as to include dual barrels on the arms, shortening the length of the feet, and moving the light and missile rack to the side torso's, instead of on the arms like the mini (which was used as a reference for the first model).

The First model was built using the Miniature as a reference, which, unfortunately, doesn't really look "animatable" for walking/running animations (though great for falling animations). The First one needed to be modified by Sake906 for animation, so did many of the other 'Mechs currently in the game, the new one won't, and will look infinitely better than the first one.

This is the only good picture of the IIC I can find, other than all that reseen drivel.

The dual-barrel arms is...rather different.

But I think it actually looks pretty good. I have to admit, if someone just randomly told me, "Hey, we should change the Hammer's arms..." I probably would have been a bit dismissive.

The single barreled arms are going to be included as well, so it isn't as though it's strictly going to have the twin barrels.

I had modeled it under the assumption that the game engine required two barrels on the arms to work with the game engine, which was an assumption that was true up until version 2.2.x.

Ah, that's rather interesting.

To lighten the load, that is. Some of the other MekTek staff may have usable models too.

Might suggest bugging TeslaCoil for some of his models. He has some great models of some CBT style mechs.

Man that was fast! you did a great job at the refining.

You can include the mono-barrel design too, afterall, we have a pod system where many shapes come into play :) For it you could simply take the new one and remove the smaller barrel, centering the bigger one and making it slightly larger.

Your anim dummies do help a lot, I remember having used them on the KitFox and I haven't even removed them. Pass it over whenever you see me on msn.

Yeah, I slapped it up in about 2 hours, probably one of the fastest models I've done, but the fastest overall in the low-poly department.

I'll get it to you a little later today. :)
