It had been quite a while since Samdi has first come to the lake and the sagabehra had spent much of her time helping with research, arranging resources, crafting potions and elixirs where needed and even providing first aid as necessary. She had been an indispensable member of the expedition and pretty much everyone around the lake knew of her by now. They knew to look to her for help and that she had assisted with resolving their food issues as well as helping with tonics and keeping frequent reports to the Emperor. She looked to be having a good time as well. Not exactly fun per se, not with the kind of circumstances around the lake and how dire things had gotten at a point but Samdi was surely meant to do just this kind of work - something that allowed her to help and be useful while also managing others. Not that it was something entirely new to her. Regardless shortly after the ice had broken, while the kai were still working on widening the holes in it and carrying off large

With the large amount of kai around the lake it was getting increasingly apparent that food was going to be an issue. Samdi walked along the edges of the lake, observing the kai and humanoids on it working hard to break through. A lot of energy was being used one way or another and it had to be replenished somehow. The sagabehra hummed in thought, distracted from her surroundings. The kai were fine. For the most part they could just go hunt something in their break, especially the winged ones or ones capable of traveling a good distance in short periods and with relative ease. But all the humanoids were used to cooked food and a bit pickier on what to eat. That would certainly pose a problem. With the lake frozen over they couldn't access the fish living beneath its surface nor anything else below. Samdi thought to the many herds or deer that her kid were raising in the very mountains not too far off from the lake. They could arrange for a part of each herd to get brought over and put

An odd feeling came over Danaus as he worked away on the ice. He had been at the lake for about a week at this point and gotten a hang of the ice and how he should best go about breaking it, deciding certain attacks did a better job than others and focusing on those. A new group of helpers had just arrived in from the Kashi'Kaira residences in the capital, many kai and sagabehra pouring in with gear and supplies to help the rescue group out. It was an incredibly useful load of supplies and everyone was very grateful for it and the extra help. Some of the sagabehra went off to set up tents and posts - some for tools others for food - and even some research tents, where scholars gathered, trying to find out as much as they could by looking around the ice, sketching out the silhouetted and runes they could make put beneath ice, describing everything they could in great detail and consulting with the longer-lived Kashi'kaira for any information they might have that could be pertaining to

As soon as they broke through the next layer, Danaus and Uncia breathed a small sigh of relief. One step closer to their goal. The lake area was now filled with even more creatures than before, nearly all of the Selrin rescued happily and near immediately joining their efforts in breaking through the ice so they could have their beloved companion O'Kailan out and free as well. The place was also buzzing with chatter as they shared their story and more about themselves and the O'Kailan as well as their beloved dragon creator O'Lunrin. It was a bittersweet story to listen to but at the same time they were all so proud of their dragon creator and grateful to them and filled with just so much love for them as they spoke about them that everyone couldn't help but feel touched. Uncia approached the other yakaima, looking down at the ice at the center of the large hole in the lake's barriers. The icy walls around them were quite tall now, the yakaima both dwarfed by the ice. It was
