Mob Type: Neutral
Health Points: 20
Attack Damage: 1 (Unarmed)
Spawn: Within 50 blocks of a player's original spawn (very rarely)
Drops: One random item within the player's inventory
Experience: 2-5

Description: The doppelganger spawns in a blank state, a semi-transparent featureless humanoid (See image). When any player comes within 30 blocks of it, or it is hit by an arrow from a player more than 30 blocks away, it takes the form of that player, matching their skin and even their nameplate (the Steve skin shown is an example). The doppelganger also wears whatever armour the player was wearing and wields the strongest weapon in the player's inventory (can use both sword and bow if player has both). The doppelganger is always hostile to the player they are copying.

All mobs will treat an active doppelganger the same way they would treat a player, and the doppelganger will attack any hostile mob that comes too close to it. The doppelganger is only hostile to the player it copied and tends to ignore other players. If attacked by a different player it will become hostile to that player, but will maintain the form of the first.

How can you make letters darker? Like Mob Type etc.?

You mean in the description? Just select the words and press CTRL + B to make them bold. Like so.

More subterfuge! Excellent! Again I love the unique advantage this mob has but I feel like on single player its not something that would be too dangerous and that on multiplayer it would be even less of a threat. However, that doesn't stop it from being an excellent concept :D

Thank you! :D You're right, it's not really much of a threat, is it? It could be if it copied a powerful weapon in your inventory, but the fact that you could just use that weapon against it kinda negates that.

No problem :D
To make it more threatening, you could try increasing it's health, giving it a knockback move of some sorts and on low health, it could take the form and attack methods of a boss (but it would still have the same health and whatnot ;3)

Making it stronger or giving it a more powerful attack could certainly work, yeah. I was basing this off of the myth where it's essentially just an exact copy of yourself, so I tried to emulate that.
As for the taking the form of another mob, doppelgangers weren't really shapeshifters, but a similar idea to that is reserved for another idea that's coming soon.

Yes, I can see why ideas to make it tougher don't mesh exactly well with the concept

Just for clarification: If the Doppelganger is hit by another player after it has transformed into the first player, does it maintain the hostility towards the first player at the same time as being hostile to the new player, or does it transfer the hostility from the first player to the new player?

It stays hostile to the first as well. Sorry if I didn't make that clear enough.
