I live in the middle of a forest and as such the air is very clear (there are also no streetlights closer than 2 kilometres form our house), so I'm pretty good Only thing is, here in Finland the summer nights are so light you can't see stars at all sometimes - but boy, when it's fall or winter...
Sometimes when I get home late at night, I just stare dumbstruck up at the sky - it is so beautiful
Wow, that sounds awesome! *envy* I am reminded how much I miss just being able to stargaze, living closer to the city as I do now. You see stars, but you only see the really pretty night sky when it's dark and you can watch for a while.. more stars come into view that way. I mean I can still see stars if I stand in the right spot, but.. I only get to really enjoy them if I walk somewhere further from town. Boo streetlights. >.<
So I'm curious as to who can see stars, whether they live in town, in suburbs, in a rural area.. and though I don't mean from your house precisely, but close around your house's general vicinity, I s'pose xD
Since we're just getting our clear summer nights here in town FINALLY, and I'm able to go walk around at night, I've been pausing to look up at the beautiful stars when I'm a bit further from all the lights of my district. I used to live in a smaller community, and could lay out on my deck and see sooo many stars.. I miss that. ;-; Sometimes I can see more stars in my area very late at night once everyone's turned off their lights and gone to bed.. I only need get away from streetlights.
And as an afterthought, I suppose I should acknowledge it's not always lights that affect the sky's visibility.. but.. living where I am blessed with very clean air, I tend to forget it's not always so elsewhere. My bad
