Sex felt so helpless, she looked around if anyone could help, the loving steed pawing at the snow beside Lyo to wake him up, the smell of blood terrified her and she understood this was all a horrible situation.

Damon realized too late where Lyo had headed...and also too late to hold him back this time.

By the morning he could only find his mate turned cold and his soul not in this realm.

He hated himself for turning just as cold on him in the last centuries but the thought of losing him brought him into a panic deep inside that he was not even capable to express and would haunt him instead months and years later. For now, he could only join beside him and hold him to process what had happened. How could Lyo die in a sword fight? in THIS century??

This was by far not the first time such happened, but this time it hit differently. After all the lives they lived, what if one day he would not wake up the same? What if one day it was the last time? What if one day the deity that cursed them..would find a reason why their fight was over.
Silently he whispered prayers to the god that Lyo referred to as Scar...for him to have mercy one more time.
