Those things are so obnoxious in the early game.  (In later phases I enjoy ramming the little bastards with my Seatruck.)

When you're likely to first deal with them, the paralyzing effect of that brine can doom you as you run out of available time to replenish the tanks, or nearby symbiotes decide to nibble the wounded Robin too much.  And at least my game settings gave me no clues about struggling to crack out of the ice quickly.
