I am putting together a pitch for the first Birrin book, after several years of generating material to fill in their world. I want this book to be just the first, so how should I introduce the Birrin?

565 deviants said An illustrated narrative: a Birrin character goes on a journey across part of their world, a series of paintings depicting their journey. [Examples: Dinotopia by James Gurney]
533 deviants said An in-universe natural history book: a birrin organisation conducts a transect or wildlife survey of an area, paintings depicting their activities, environment, and detailed studies of animal and plant life. [Examples: Expedition by Wayne Barlowe]
387 deviants said An out-universe natural history book: written by a neutral narrator in the form of a nature/history guide. Each habitat or topic forms a chapter, which then includes details of the subjects including birrin activities in the area, wildlife, technology etc

A lot of people noted that my art reminded them of Subnautica, or that I should work on it.

So I contacted the studio and looks like I will be! You should be seeing some of my designs there :)

An older piece not uploaded for some reason!

A slim, young Idiran from the Culture novels, not yet at giant warrior stage, serving as internal - but well armed - security
The Dance
Slender and nimble male birrin try their best to impress the powerful females with energetic dances and vivid displays of their membranous wings.

Females are not easily wooed, and he must choose his moment carefully. Though exceptionally rare in the modern era, a male with insufficient speed or skill runs the risk of injury or even death.

Been a fan of your work for a long time and love how you manage to create such unique yet believable alien creatures, you've obviously put a lot of work and study into it and it definitely stands out. I've been meaning to play Subnautica for a while now and am even more exited to get into it knowing that you've designed some of the creatures. Would love to play a sci-fi game where all creatures are of your design. :)

I see the artworks about Birrin's machines.I think you can make a artwork about Birrins take their products to join the World's fair on Earth.

A question about the birrin I haven't seen answered (or even asked). How do they display emotion? I assume that with their vocal communication there is different tones with different implications, just like any animal has. Their faces don't look the most expressive though. Do they have body language that helps depict emotion?

Will you design more Birrin vehicles?

Hey, I just wanted to say that I really enjoy your 'alien' design (Birrin) it's anatomically believable and it doesn't follow the usual, horrific alien tropes, it's also nice to see another Australian doing well in the concept space! Keep up the great work :)
