Sleeping Beauty

Because no fairytale collection is complete without Sleeping Beauty. I experimented with colors for this one, which was fun. I don't normally step out of my comfort zone where paint is concerned, but since it's all traditional, I had to pay attention to what I was doing. I wanted to capture her sweetness, but keep the fright factor close at hand, because I think the tale is rather frightening in its way - especially the original! Yikes.

Beautiful work. I love what you did with the colours. It has a dreamy underwater feel, very much under the spell. :+fav:

Was it aquarelle you were using here or just normal watercolors? I just gotta say I love how you gave that small tone of green in her skin, the whole piece overall is absolutely lovely <3 ;u;

Love how the perspective of this seems somehow....off, like you're not sure which way you're viewing her, above or sideways. Definitely makes it feel as unsettling as her situation.

This is beautiful! The dark space between the curtains adds a decidedly creepy tone to the piece (which you were trying to do anyway). I love it! ^_^

she's truly beautiful... the most beautiful face in your whole gallery :love:
love the colours. amazing textures :clap:
and at last she looks like a living person. people tend to portrait her on her back, as if she was dead all the time. you captured the scene so much better :D

I am completely in love with the color scheme and how you treated the watercolors. You captured Sleeping Beauty in a very unique light, yet still managed to keep the darker themes of the original fairytale. Really amazing job!

all of those volumous bedsheets and curtains and the curious sense of gravity . . . this must have been a lot of fun. beautiful!

Those colors are great. This ilustration reminds me about old children books. Really nice.
