Hiya. Is there anywhere one can still download these models? dropbox, stash and ut2004.ut-files are all dead links now. Thanks

These are stunning. Is there a .u file available so these can be pushed from a server? I haven't a clue how to create one for skins that don't have them.
Aberiu's avatar
I don't know how to make it either, unfortunately.

Thanks. I've made some headway on building this, but I've already forgotten the process since no one wants to play this old game with me. :/

Круто, а где её скачать можно?
lezisell's avatar

Can I ask your technique for painting the UVs? just curious because they are so beautiful, i didn't know if you painted them straight onto the UVs or if you used a program like Mudbox or something for painting. I'd appreciate it cause they really are perfect! :D

I use a whole lot of stuff when making textures, the base sketch was painted in Zbrush (I also baked ambient occlusion and normals from highpoly sculpt, the blue channel of the normal map helps sometimes), then I made a bunch of masks for different materials and colors in PS (should have baked them as well, but screwed this part) and the rest of the texture was made in Photoshop.
For the red to gray color gradient and logos on her torso I created 2 additional very simple UV layouts in separate channels (planar map), made a texture with gradients in PS and baked it back to the main UV layout so I got smooth gradients without seams and properly distorted letters.

I also tried ddo recently, not in this model but I suggest looking into it because it's awesome and saves a lot of time.

Awesome! I'll definitely check into DDO! Thanks so much for sharing! Your work is an inspiration, so knowing a little of the technique helps alot :D

Like the colorshock :D
Usually when I see armor like this I don't really pay much attention to it. This caught my eye though ;)

Really cool, it's a bit busy but that's only to be expected in the real world. I kind of miss the days of bright colors and flat paneling, Sometimes modern game art assets look a bit too real if you get my meaning? (some people will complain about anything, won't they :) )

Some games look real and some don't. I guess it's just a matter of choice.
