Welcome to 2013

Journal Entry: Sun Jan 6, 2013, 6:31 AM
Wanted to update my page because it looks like I'm not doing anything and it is quite the opposite.  The month of December was pretty much dedicated to making homemade apple butter, barbeque sauce and crocheting scarves for christmas presents... However, in addition to working on more Trading Cards for Pirates of Glory I am also commissioned to paint a mural of the Statue of Liberty inside a Liberty Tax office in Delaware, OH.

Here is a preview of how it is coming so far.  Sorry about the lighting... they were having a presentation at the time I took this picture. (Also the red white and blue flags in the picture are hanging from the ceiling and not part of the piece)

Acrylic on Drywall

I originally had natural hair brushes for this project and I couldn't stand the way they worked so I ended up stopping halfway through my first day and walking down to CVS and bought a pack of craft paintbrushes that I've been using ever since.

Progress!

It feels good to submit another work of art!  I am now currently working on a series of playing cards for an online RPG called Pirates of Glory.  I am very excited about these pieces.  I feel they will be a great addition to my portfolio.  They are a concentration on what I enjoy most.

I hope everyone is doing well!

new art coming soon!

I am proud to say new artwork is on the way!

Fanart?

Journal Entry: Fri Nov 4, 2011, 3:24 PM
I'm trying to kick my painting back into gear and thought it would be fun to draw some fanart.

Any suggestions?

Just spit 'em my way.

Anything is appreciated.  I've got a lot to do and my heart beat has been spazzing out for over 24 hours and causing my hands to shake.  I'm just looking for the best way to handle everything.

I look to you... my peers.

Mriehle1 :: 365 PROJECT

:iconmriehle1: is a new deviant.  As a new deviant most assume one has to grow in skill as time goes on, Mriehle1 has submitted some already stunning pieces of photography, and with his "365 Project" there is only more to come.  With only a few deviations in his collection I can already tell there are bigger and better things in his future.  I feature Mriehle1 because he is a friend, and one that only recently came to show his photography talent... and what a talent he has.  Please go show him love .

Time Management

Journal Entry: Thu Nov 19, 2009, 3:17 PM

Does anybody else have an issue with time?

How do you work around this and budget time for painting?

Still mostly dead, but partially alive.  I am attempting to make a solid effort to budget painting time into my schedule.  The two full time jobs thing doesn't help.  Although, I have a magnificent idea for a picture, and I'm loving this commission thing because it's forcing me to paint and I LOVE it.

Anybody else who is having problems with time management, do you have any advice to give?  I need it badly, because painting is what I want to do with my life.  I want to be part of a studio that creates paintings for magazines and games and book covers.  That has been my dream and it is constantly getting stronger.  I will not give up on this dream.

Tablet Problem [EDIT]

Mon Nov 9, 2009, 6:03 PM
edit: fixed! multiple reasons on Windows 7 was causing it to conflict.  For Windows 7 users having problems, revert to the 6.11 driver for Windows Vista, and disable two features.  This is a copy and paste from tech support:
"If you open your control panel, in here will be a view selection at the top right, use this to select either large icons or small icons.  In either on of these views will be an icon for Pen and Touch, click on this icon and you will the see a line item for press and hold.  Double click this line item and uncheck the box at the top, then click the OK button at the bottom.  Then click on the flicks tab at the top of this first window and uncheck the box at the top of this as well.  Click the OK button at the bottom and now pressure should work just fine."

I have an Intuos 3, and for some reason the tablet shorts out on pressure sensitivity about once every ten strokes.  Has anyone else had this problem?

I have reinstalled the driver numerous times, using both the updated driver available on wacom.com and the previous driver I was using.  I have tried uninstalling and unplugging the tablet completely from my computer (so my computer wouldn't register any missing bits and pieces from the uninstall) however it seems not to work that way either.

Does anyone have any advice?

Windows 7

Journal Entry: Wed Nov 4, 2009, 4:21 PM

Anybody who was hesitant on getting Windows 7, don't be.  I just installed it a few days ago and love it.  It's so user-friendly and sleek.  Really easy to use, there hasn't been anything I haven't been able to figure out quickly.

And I HATED vista. Bad. lol.

Full body colored commission similar to:

Last time I quoted 4 weeks.  Not this time.  Last time was 11 weeks total, I expect it to be about the same-ish judging by current projects.  I liked being able to do that, and I hope to continue.

Any takers?

Please note any and all questions :)!
