Good morning everyone!
As most of you know our fall semester begins September 5th and ends December 21st of this year. We'll have winter break and reconvene January 27, 2014 for the beginning of Spring 2014.
If you'd like to keep up to date with events and the like, current students - remember there is an events calendar in your student portal. Alumni - remember you can keep in touch with current events through the Academy of Art facebook pages both for the school and pages for your major.
I was asked to remind you all that this Sunday, the 8th of September, we will be hosting a back to school Costume Carnival. Click HERE for more information.
The basics if you are unable to click on the link:
The Costume Carnival's theme is "Once Upon a Time," and it will be a revisit to classic and romantic costumes.
Sept. 8, 2013 1- 4 pm
Illustration Building (Powell) | Bradley Hall (On the Fourth Floor for those new students, to the right at the end of the hall, the large room beyond the curtains)
If you've never attended a costume carnival, it is essentially an event coordinated by the head of models, Sarafina, and the models hired for the school. They put aside their free time to come, get dressed up, and pose for students in likeness with the theme. Often, the stages are set up with a multitude of props to better create an ambiance.
Costume Carnivals are the ONE event that students may photograph the model so bring a camera! It's great reference to have.
Otherwise, students are encouraged to bring whatever medium they would like to work in to capture the models of their liking.
It's truly a great way to come meet your fellow colleagues and make some new friends.
I will be there if anyone would like to swing by and say hello! I'd like to think I'm hard to miss with the mass of curls on my head.
Since I'm not so great with the words and descriptions, here's a picture.
I wish everyone a great fall semester!
Best of Luck,
