So just like the last, unexplained journal entry this relates to the Roleplay I run because we're still looking for people to join in and write. The RP is Precipice of War and it's what'd be called a Nation or Politics RP. But we don't align ourselves heavily towards stat-tracking if you were afraid of playing a desk job like you might EVE Online or even any other run-of-the-mill NRP it seems. It's set in an alternate time-line where WW2 wasn't fought, the link to it is this:

I'm specifically looking for people to take up Western Europe since it's ironically been the one place consistently overlooked. However we're running all new people through Russia first. So before you join in the fun as Old Europe, you're going to need to cook up a complete story that interacts with whatever's going on in Russia and impress us. Then we'll let you switch over and reapply as Old Europe.

But I finally decided to set aside old Legionnaire pone.

So I don't know if anyone cares since no one has ever asked. But I figured I would make it public by saying: it has not been forgotten. I am actually working on the final pieces.

Yes, plural piece. Not one, not two. I decided to run the final (sorta, I keep forgetting Khamsin) as a comic of sorts. And well, this is going to take a while. Being horribly inexperienced at doing anything comic-wise will do that I guess.

So, keep your eyes open. You might see Raiden Pip coming back.

... Of drawing pone. And for who? Well, in some ways more for me than for anyone else for the most part, but sometimes for other people.

But five god-damn years. I started in August of 2011, and now it's September 2016. If I were more aware I would have done a formal anniversary but I dropped the ball on that one. My first real pony piece of art was uploaded on August 10th... 2011. In 2011 Obama was nearing the end of his first term, and Mitt Romney was the Republican opponent. in 2011 the Arab Spring flared to life; I have been drawing pony for as long as Syria has been at civil war! In the month I began Europe was suffering from a debt crisis because of god-damn Greece and the US credit rating was downgraded.

Several months after I started drawing pony Occupy Wallstreet started and so began the birth of the Occupy movement; and in the time between its sort of sputtering out of relevance and its disappearance into oblivion, to be referred to in the past tense.

And the youthful brony fandom was looking ahead to Season 2.

And between then and now: I've been drawing. And now whenever I feel like my art is shit I can go back and see where I've been and safely want to gouge my own eyes out. So I will entreat you to this. Here is my very first pone drawing:

Joker Pie by AaronMk

As the description attests, I was dragged into this because I watched a parody trailer for the Dark Knight.

And now five years on, and the ending of a presidential episode later where am I? Well, you can see.

It's been a long time since I decided to offer any prints for sale. It hasn't been until recently I figured I would give it a shot. Presently I'm only inclined to offer the choice for my photography, otherwise I don't think its necessary since everything else has been glorified fan art.

So really, just to get rid of my old journal I'm putting this little announcement out there. If you feel inclined to show some more love or to help me out a bit more with a couple dollars from time to time then feel free to buy a print or something. Then hang that shit on the fridge or whatever you want to do.

I also know next to nothing about dA print sales so this'll also be an experiment.

"The atom is not a soldier, it is a worker."
-Close approximation to Soviet NPP propaganda as written from memory

Thirty years ago today, Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant (CNPP) reactor number 4 blew its top, as from a malfunction in its reactor. The resulting explosion culminating in the worst nuclear disaster the world has seen. Even more so than today's Fukushima. Something near fifty people - reactor workers, fire-fighters - died as a direct result of the event but over the years the death-toll brought about from the radiation that leaked climbed into the thousands. Exact numbers can be politically charged.

In the aftermath, the nuclear utopia town of Pripyat - built to match the highest bar of Soviet living standards in the seventies and eighties in celebration of their nuclear energy sector - Chernobyl, and the area surrounding were evacuated of 60,000 residents in just hours and nuclear fires burned towards the CNPP

Today a thirty kilometer zone of exclusion separates the area from the rest of the world. Thirty years on the Zone of Alienation is a petri-dish for ecological study and "Dark Tourism", people visiting The Zone to bask in the grim glow of Chernobyl's world in Ukraine.

Figured after work I'd put this out, since while browsing the news on work-provided phones I was informed. Mostly writing this from memory and what I already know before I hit the bed.

______________

“A Thirsty Fish

I don't get tired of you. Don't grow weary
of being compassionate toward me!

All this thirst equipment
must surely be tired of me,
the waterjar, the water carrier.

I have a thirsty fish in me
that can never find enough
of what it's thirsty for!

Show me the way to the ocean!
Break these half-measures,
these small containers.

All this fantasy
and grief.

Let my house be drowned in the wave
that rose last night in the courtyard
hidden in the center of my chest.

Joseph fell like the moon into my well.
The harvest I expected was washed away.
But no matter.

A fire has risen above my tombstone hat.
I don't want learning, or dignity,
or respectability.

I want this music and this dawn
and the warmth of your cheek against mine.

The grief-armies assemble,
but I'm not going with them.

This is how it always is
when I finish a poem.

A great silence comes over me,
and I wonder why I ever thought
to use language.”
― Rumi
