To one of our amazing supporters, whoever you are, thank you so much for the subscription! :new: 02/07/2010 Aaron Ehasz talks The Last Airbender http://community.livejournal.com/racebending/253187.html CNN.com published the article 'Did the 'Airbender' adaptation ever have a chance?' , in which they speak to A:TLA series writer Aaron Ehasz:     "We tried to be as careful as we could not to directly base anyone's culture on a [real world] culture because we wanted to borrow ideas," said head "Avatar" series writer Aaron Ehasz. "The series is clearly Asian inspired with obvious Chinese influences. In the case of the water benders, they ...

:new: i09: And I think everybody who has criticized Shyamalan for casting white actors as Asian characters in this film should admit they were wrong. Clearly, Shyamalan tried to cast Asians, but he just couldn't find any whose performances were lifeless enough. Early reviews of The Last Airbender are up. Our condolences to Mike and Bryan and we hope this isn't remembered as their legacy... Racebending.com was given a pre-screening the night before the Hollywood premiere. I think it's safe to say they called it. P.S. The mods of Racebending.com discuss the treatment of race and gender in the film here: http://community.livejournal.com/ra...

If you could donate/share this, I would be eternally grateful.  www.youcaring.com/my-family-36… It's for my family.
Just wow- The fact that people are STILL making these claims is sad...get over it tis a gosh dang MOVIE....FICTIONAL
wow I didn't know anyone tought the movie was racistic, I didn't even think that way, I'd just expected a movie alot more similar to the series, but it was pretty bad..

I'm white, but I'm not racist at all, I love all sorts of contries and cultuers, but I gotta say I don't think the movie is racist, M. Night just got some ideas that came out wrong and he should have made the cast look more like the characters. And if the problem is the hero/villian thing I don't see the problem, Zuko is not a villian, hes just confused but ends up being a great hero, and he is the character who's stolen most fan-girls hearts
I just watched Coldplay's video, "Princess of China" featuring Rianna. I've never been so insulted by the poor use of research involved in making this video. One would assume that the title has lots of references to Chinese culture, but once again, there is very little and uses other "Asian" influences that the average viewer does not seem to notice: For example, the Japanese swords and ninjas, the taiko drums, the tattooed, tribal security guard at 0:38.

Seriously, if you're gonna make a music video focusing on one culture, get your damn facts straight. Even the Wu-Tang clan does their research when they make their videos and get inspiration from Chinese culture and movies when they write their lyrics.

Enough ranting, here's Coldplay's video. Feel free to state your opinions:

Jack De Sena - voice of Sokka - white

Stop white-washing! Boycott Avatar: The Last Airbender!
you can't base it on the voice, voice actors don't have to look like they're character, all that matters is the sound of they're voice see it like this:

A person in a wheelchair could voice act a marathorn runner

that's how little look alike matters in voiceacting
