"Where is he? Where is Valentine?" "He's coming" Adrian answered with a twisted grin..... Immediately I backed away from them. Jace grabbed my hand. I felt like a coward going up against them. I dated Dimitri. I should be able to handle them now but for some reason I couldn't. 'They tried to kill you, you're not a coward' my common sense screamed at me but I still couldn't even look at them. "Scared Kaydence?" Dimitri taunted.

"Leave her alone" Alec snarled as he inched closer.  Dimitri grabbed me and wrenched me away from Jace and I felt terror seize me. I felt my throat tightening. Alec grabbed me quick and I snuggled into Jace. "Leave her alone". Adrian smirked a bit. "Nah I don't think I will". I heard a wrestling in the bushes and I tensed up. I saw Valentine walking up. I tensed up, knowing that we were outnumbered. Especially with Adrian and Dimitri on his side. I waited to see what they were going to do. Valentine just smirked at me before they walked off. I knew he wanted us to know they were going to come after us. Not to mention we also had Quinn Montecourte to deal with. Although his activity had seemed to cease for a bit and I didn't know why.

It also stumped Jace, Alec and Izzy. And I knew that Clary was still to inexperienced to go up against him. "What are you thinking baby?" Jace asked as his warm soft voice broke through my thoughts. "Quinn's demonic activity seemed to cease but it makes me a bit nervous to know that". Alec and Jace both nodded. "Maybe I should pop over to his loft and see what's going on". "I don't want you going alone Kay-bee. He's dangerous". "I'll take Magnus with me" I answered confidently. Jace nodded, "Okay". We headed back to the Institute and Izzy was waiting for us. "Hey".

I smiled. "Hello. Is Magnus around?" She nodded. I walked over to find Magnus. I explained the situation to him and he nodded. "Quinn is monstrously evil". "I was wondering if you would consider coming with me to Benji's loft so that I could check on him". He nodded, of course". I opened the portal and he walked through first and I followed. We got to Benji's loft and Magnus walked in. I followed but hung back. When I heard Magnus scream "What the fuck!?" I ran over. Benji and Quinn were laying in his bed. Benji looked annoyed that Magnus had walked in on him.

"Seriously Magnus?" He asked. "I could ask you the same thing! What the hell!?" He snapped. I pulled him back. "Magnus chill". He growled. "How could you do this?" "Do what? I wasn't lying about the fact that Quinn wanted to kill me". "Magnus come on let's just go back". He looked angry as hell but he walked out of the room and we left. "Ugh". "It's okay. Now we know why Quinn hasn't been doing anything to hurt us lately. At least he's being occupied. We can't complain. At least I can't. He's a threat to all of us. And if Benji is willing to take him off of our hands then why not?"

"I raised Benji! He's my son! I won't let that little viper turn him away from me!" I put my hand on Magnus' shoulder. "It's okay Magnus. And I know that Benji can take care of himself". "Quinn is evil Kay. He could hurt my son. I can't take that chance". "Shouldn't you let Benji decide that for himself? I mean he is an adult. He's perfectly capable of figuring out what he wants". Magnus looked angry and I sighed. "Benji isn't a baby Magnus". "I know that! But I'm still responsible for him. And Quinn--" "We will keep an eye on Quinn. Don't worry. And if anything happens I'll report it back to you". I hated talking over Magnus but I had to so that I could get a word in edge wise.

He sighed and looked at me and I rested my head on his shoulder. "I know you want to look out for him Magnus but sometimes letting people do what they want is a better alternative to alienating them". "How did you get to be so smart?" I blushed a bit and shrugged. "No idea". He laughed and huggled me close. I happy sighed and snuggled into him. Suddenly I remembered the diamond. "We need to give the diamond to Quinn". He nodded and we went back to Benji's apartment. Quinn was sitting on the couch with him and they were talking. "Don't worry about the Diamond. "Why not?" "I changed my mind. I don't want it anymore". I tilted my head to the side, listening to them talk for a few minutes. "Quinn will you marry me?" I bit at my lip to keep myself from squeaking and looked at Quinn for his initial reaction.

"Yes".  Benji smiled and then he got up and opened the portal. "After you". Quinn walked through the portal and Benji followed leaving Magnus and I standing alone and Magnus looking very confused...
