Lacey and Sastrid Escape Room Size Games Chapter 6
Lacey made sure that she had swallowed the fruit and she hoped that it would make her grow larger. If she shrank any smaller, she would likely become the size of an ant and her situation might very well be hopeless. She could already feel a shiver running down her spine, a clear indication that her body was about to change once more.
Suddenly the former tall woman could feel her body beginning to shoot up in height. The change was so sudden that she knew that if she didn't jump off of the cabinet that she was standing on. She would likely fall and hurt herself, potentially even breaking a bone or two in her body.
Due to this scenario, Lacey jumped off from where she was standing and her feet hit the ground far sooner than she had expected. She even braced herself for her head to strike the ceiling as she had convinced herself that she was going to grow too large and maybe even start filling up the room.
Much to her surprise, as sudden as the growth spurt had begun, it came to a screeching halt. She began to look at everything around her and if anything, the objects and pieces of furniture were actually a little larger than she had expected. If she had to guess, she thought that she was just shy of being five feet tall. For the first time, in a very long time, she could actually consider herself to be petite.
"Hey it worked," said Lacey as she gave a small twirl and had a smile on her face. "I'm actually bigger and not too big. Although I do admit that I'm a little on the short side. Maybe I should eat a little more of that fruit and make myself…" She paused for a moment as she began to consider what she was about to say. "On second thoughts, I better not push my luck. I'm big enough for what I need."
Lacey carefully stepped towards the door and she could see that the doorhandle was at a reasonable height off the ground. The keyhole to it was just underneath the doorhandle which was allowed her to breathe a sigh of relief. But then there was something important that she realised when she looked at the keyhole.
"The key and Salem," said Lacey to herself as she feared that neither the key nor the tiny cat had grown with her. If that were the case, the key would be too small for her to use and Salem would likely be so tiny that she wouldn't be able to see him properly.
Once again, she was able to breathe a sigh of relief as she looked into her pocket. Not only had the key grown in proportion to her but so had Salem. Without wasting a single moment, she cupped the cat in her hand and took them out of her pocket. Rather than being a regular size cat though, it was still very tiny but it was at least bigger than it was just a few moments earlier. Although it was still around the size of a mouse.
"Salem you're alright," said Lacey with a smile on her face. The tiny feline simply gave her a meow. "You're still a little small, so let's make you a little closer to your regular size." She lowered Salem towards the fruit that had allowed Lacey to gain some much needed height. "Go on, take a good bite out of it."
Salem did look at the fruit for a moment and did take a sniff at it. Rather than taking a bite though, it simply turned away and began to lick itself. It was clear that the tiny feline wasn't a fan of the smell and thus had decided not to eat it. Even if it would enlarge it back to a size that could be considered normal.
"Such a fussy cat," said Lacey to herself as she lifted the tiny cat close to her chest. "Suit yourself, but now I guess we can move on." She took a moment to think about what she was going to do next. "Should I leave you here?" Before she could make up her mind she could feel Salem rubbing their body on her hand. This was something that she simply couldn't resist. "Nope, I'm definitely keeping you. Until we at least get out of this stupid thing that Sastrid set up."
With that, Lacey placed Salem back into her pocket and stepped towards the door that she hoped would lead her out of the kitchen. Carefully she placed the key in the keyhole and she found that it fit perfectly. It was as if even though she was still smaller than normal, she was just the right size for this.
The key also began to turn with a little effort and this only made her even happier as things were finally going her way. Although she did brace herself for a few moments as she thought that Sastrid might have done some kind of trick. Like there being two keys that were needed or the door being so heavy it was impossible to move.
Thankfully this wasn't the case as she was able to move the now unlocked door and open it. On the other side, she saw the same vortex like style of colours that she had seen in the previous room. This was still a good sign as she didn't hesitate in stepping through it, although a part of her would wish that she hadn't.
The next thing that Lacey saw she couldn't see anything in particular just in front of her. Instead, she could see what she could only describe as the sky and for a moment she thought that she might have been standing on a hill of some kind. But before she could properly begin to look around, she began to be bothered by tiny black insects that were flying around her head.
"Go on, shoo!" stated Lacey as she waved her hands as she wanted to scare the insects away. However, there was something that she did notice which she did find to be very odd. These insects weren't making buzzing sounds that she had expected. Instead, they were cawing almost as if they were birds. "Wait a minute…" Using sudden reflexes, she was able to grab one of these insects and had it between her thumb and index finger.
Immediately, she brought the insect closer to her eye so that she could get a better look at it. As it flapped its wings she could see tiny feather like objects falling from it. It continued to struggle in her grasp and she realised more or less straight away that what she was holding was no mere insect.
"I-Is this a bird?" asked Lacey as she was almost too shocked to actually speak. "If it's this small then that means…" She looked down towards the ground and could see that she was not standing on a hill. In front of her she could see a forest that stretched out for as far as the eye could see. "I'M ENORMOUS!"
The truth was that Lacey didn't know if she was actually enormous or if she was normal size and everything was just much smaller. After everything that she had been through recently, she had completely lost her sense of scale. It was too confusing for her and she seemed almost too scared to take a single step. Fearing what kind of damage that she could do thanks to her overall size.
"There we go, you figured it out," said the voice of Sastrid along with a short chuckle along with it.
"Sastrid what's going on?" replied Lacey in a state of both confusion and the slightest hint of fear. "Why am I so big?"
"Well since you seemed to be so small in the last room. I thought that you had earned time as a giant this time around. Plus I thought that you would be used to being so tall, you are the centre of a basketball team."
"There's a difference between being super tall and being a full blown giant! Now can you please shrink me to a more reasonable size?"
"Now why would I do that? It would take away from the fun and the challenge to proceedings. The rules are the same as before, find the door, find the key and be at the right size to use them."
"Find the key and door where? There's nothing here but forests and a few hills!" Although to Lacey they were more like molehills.
"Have you tried looking behind you?"
"Wait what?"
Lacey did as she was told as she turned and a part of her expected to see the door that she had just stepped through. Instead, she saw what looked to be a sprawling city just in front of her. From her point of view, it looked to be a model as she was taller than the tallest building within. But the streets were wide enough for her to be able to walk down them. Although it seemed like it wouldn't be a wise thing to do.
Even from where she was standing, she could see numerous cars in the street and a many other buildings that were both big and small. For all intents and purposes it did look like a fully functioning city with everything that many would expect to see in such an environment. But there was one thing that seemed to be off, something that she couldn't put her finger on. The strangeness was not because of its size.
"So, the door and the key is in this city?" asked Lacey. She was about to take a step into the city but stopped herself from doing so.
"Yep, you got it and plenty of different consumables that could change your size in wide range of different ways."
"B-But I can see like a hundred doors from where I'm standing!" This was true, with every building there was at least one door that she could see. "Can I use any of them to escape here?"
"Nope, so good luck finding the right one. I'll be watching!"
"Wait Sastrid!" There was nothing but silence from the demoness leaving the giantess simply standing there completely dumbfounded. But her confusion was quickly turning into rage. "DAMN IT SASTRID!" She didn't even realise that her voice was so loud that many windows in the city were shattering from the sheer volume.
