Guardians Of The Northern City: Chapter 75
The woman who had caused so much problems for the people of New Cardiff found herself attempting to back away from the Guardian. Thanks to the strong electrical shock that had gone through her body made it almost impossible for her to get back up to her feet. Instead, she was basically crawling backwards in an attempt to escape.
Serena didn't have any problem keep up as it was more or like a leisurely walk as she just followed. In her mind, she was thinking about whether she should cause the villainess any more discomfort. She had caused so much trouble and had seriously injured both Elizabeth and Louise. Any kind of harm that she received would be more than warranted.
Her hand began to glow even further as more high powered electricity ran through her. There was even enough that she was generating that could kill a regular person. It was stronger than the one that Elizabeth had experienced and was still the reason for why she was unconscious within the lab.
But any kind of additional harm wasn't going to do Serena any favours. If her mentor had taught her anything, it was that no further harm should be brought to an opponent if they were no longer a threat. This seemed to be the case for this woman who could still seemingly not be enough to even get up to her feet.
"Your crimes are numerous and you deserve everything that you're getting," said Serena as she stepped closer. The villainess was still backing away from her but was seemingly getting more use in her body with every passing moment. "You're lucky it's me that found you and not Elizabeth."
"Yeah I am lucky," replied the Woman as she was capable of actually sitting up. It seemed as though she had been backed into a corner. But she wouldn't allow herself to be captured so easily. "It means that you can be hurt."
With all the force that she had within her, she kicked out her foot right towards her kneecap of Serena. Her strike was strong and accurate as the Guardian felt her knee be forced back unnaturally and she heard a loud crack. Worse still, she felt an incredible amount of pain go through her leg.
Immediately, she fell to the ground after a small scream of agony escaped her mouth. It seemed as though she had been very close to victory and yet was having it snatched out of her hand.
More and more, the villainess was getting movement back into her body as she grabbed onto a nearby desk that she had been sitting at and watching the security cameras. Because of this, she was able to get back up to her feet. Her legs were weak and they wobbled a little as she was getting up. But there was still strength within them and it was increasing with every passing moment.
Less than a minute ago she had been at the mercy of the Guardian. Now the tables had turned completely as she was now the one with the advantage and Serena was the one who was in charge. Everything might not have gone to plan but as long as she was still victorious, she didn't mind how it happened. Although she had wished that she didn't have to destroy much of her equipment to do so.
"You should have finished me off when you had the chance," said the Woman as she sat herself back into the chair. Carefully, she opened one of the draws and took out several bullets for her gun. She loaded them into the gun and made sure that each one was placed inside properly.
Serena was still on the ground in pain as she tried to nurse her broken knee. The initial shock of this had subsided but now she was trying to get up to her feet. This was a task that was practically impossible given her circumstances but her resilience and determination prevented her from simply giving in.
However, she quickly stopped when she noticed that her foe was pointing a now loaded gun at her. If Serena had been close enough, she might have been able to electrocute her enemy once again. But the distance between them was too great and any attempt to move forwards would likely lead to her being shot.
"Stay right where you are!" stated the Woman as she held the gun firmly in her hand. She was tempted to simply shoot her but since she was at her mercy, it didn't seem entirely right. "One move and I'll fill you with so much lead that they wouldn't even be able to perform an X-Ray on you."
"W-Why are you doing this?" asked Serena who felt as though she had failed. She had taken too long to put her enemy away and now it might be costing her own life and that of her mentor. All she could do right now was hope for a miracle and maybe even learn the motives of the woman sitting in front of her.
Elsewhere, Louise was still sitting down and she could see her friend Erica standing close by. It wasn't the first time that the women had found themselves in a situation like this. This time however, the roles had reversed as now it was the French Giantess who was in a desperate state, while the regular size woman would likely be the voice of reason. Quite a turn around from their first meeting.
There were several things that Erica noticed about Louise that was immediate things was the fact that the giantess was larger than when they last met. Not just that but her eyes were glowing red which was slightly unnerving at first. Even if the gentle giantess's temperament was still the same.
"Hey big girl, what's going on?" asked Erica as she sat next to the giantess. Despite the size difference, she did feel safe around her. This giantess had saved her life and given her the care attention when she had really needed it. Now she wanted to do the same for her in her time of need.
"Nothing is happening," replied Louise who was trying to dodge the question. Even if she knew that she was lying to herself.
"Doesn't seem like it. You definitely look different since the last time we saw one another. I couldn't help but notice some commotion from the city and I saw what happened between you and that giant robot."
"Oh that, it was unpleasant." She thought about the event for a few moments and wasn't particularly fond of the memory. Or the scary powered up form that she had accessed during that time.
"Yeah, I remember watching it on the TV. I was genuinely scared that you were going to be hurt. But I was so glad to that you survived. Not only that but you saved everyone. Like you normally do."
"Yet what will people think when they see what I've become. She lifted her hand up again and looked at it. Although it had regrown, there was still something about it that she did notice. The skin was unusually smooth and she couldn't even see anything resembling fingerprints.
"You became the hero that the city needs. I know that if it wasn't for you, I wouldn't be here right now. You helped me in my time of need and for that I'll always be thankful to you. All you are the person who puts others ahead of herself."
Louise didn't answer immediately as she thought about what had just been said. It was true that her actions were normally for the benefit of others. Her belief that a Guardian was meant to protect rather than harm was something else that Erica was thinking of while she spoke to the giantess.
But still, there seemed to be more going on within the mind of Louise than she could put into words. Her body was changing in ways that she doubted that anyone in the history of mankind had ever been through. She was already the largest living being in the world and she feared what would happen to her next.
"Please you mustn't be sad," said Erica. There was concern in her voice as she was genuinely worried about the gigantic woman next to her. "I know what it's like to be depressed. It's a slippery slope and soon enough, you'll find yourself in a pit of despair that you simply can't climb out of."
"I know," replied Louise. Seeing her so upset was something that was very unusual. "It's just that I don't know what's happening to me. I thought my power was just to be big, but no it's more than that. I've been asking myself over and over again, why has God given me these powers? I know he has some kind of plan for me but exactly what it is, I don't know. I've even been thinking that he is punishing me."
Erica had to think about what she was going to say. She wasn't that much of a religious person, but she knew that Louise's faith meant a lot to her. To belittle this would likely not go well and although the French Giantess was normally very gentle. Given her current situation, there was no telling what she could do. But before Erica could do anything, she felt herself get suddenly picked up by Louise.
She thought for a moment that Louise was going to try and throw her as far as she could or even crush her. Instead, she found herself pressed against the soft chest and was held there with a small amount of force. It was the giantess's arm that was holding her in place and she only used enough strength to hold her and not harm her.
There were still tears streaming down the cheek of Louise and they for a moment even did glow red before quickly returning to their normal transparent appearance. This was something that the giantess herself hadn't noticed but thanks to the energy within her normally radiating a red glow. Such a thing might have been considered within the realm of reality. But when it came to anything to do with her powers, there was nothing that was for sure.
