www.deviantart.com/a0040pc/art…The next thing that Louise knew, she was waking up in her bed. A groan escaped her lips as she seemed to be in a state of confusion. The last thing that she remembered was battling the giant mech in the city and it on the verge of self-destructing. However, as she began to think even more, she knew that its attempts to destroy itself and everything around it had been an utter failure.
This did give the French giantess some manner of comfort but it did make her very unsure over what had happened after that. Everything around her had gone dark and the next thing that she knew, she was here. The knowledge that the people of New Cardiff were safe did bring a smile to her face but as she attempted to move around within her bed, she found it to be more difficult than she had expected.
Not only did she still feel extremely fatigued but she was sure that felt as though there was something in her arm. It was a piercing pain and after a few moments, she looked at the object that was in her arm. It looked to be a tube of some kind with a point at the end that was piercing right into her arm.
It reminded Louise of an IV tube that was used in hospitals, but she definitely knew that she was in no such place. Not just because she was in her own bed, but also due to the fact that she was simply too big for a hospital to house. This only added to her confusion as she tried to figure out what was taking place.
"Qu'est-ce qui c'est passé?" asked Louise as she was still more than confused. She hadn't even noticed that she had spoken in her native French rather than in English which she was growing used to speaking.
"Louise you're awake?" replied the voice of a woman. It as one that Louise recognised almost immediately as she looked towards what was a small set of drawers just at the side of the bed. There she could see the figure of her mentor Elizabeth standing there with a look of relief on her face. "Thank God."
"L-Lizzie is that you?" Louise was still in some confusion and she attempted to sit herself up, but found that she lacked the strength to do so.
"Don't move, you're still very tired." There was a tone of genuine concern from the seven-foot Englishwoman. She watched as her apprentice lay back on the scaled up pillow that was supporting her head.
"W-What happened? How did I get here?" Her voice was still weak but it did sound slightly stronger than it had done a few moments earlier.
"Can you remember fighting that giant robot?" She wanted to know this simple fact before she continued. Just so she knew where to begin explaining. "You saved the city. I don't know all the details, but you were able to stop that giant mechanical monstrosity."
"D-Did anyone get hurt?" This seemed to be a genuine concern of hers as she still had her morals.
"No, there wasn't. It's a miracle if you ask me." She knew that it was Louise's actions that had saved so many lives and ensured that it was only property damage that had taken place. Rather than it being a complete disaster. "You showed your true talent at being a Guardian. I'm proud Louise."
Louise didn't say anything at first as she just took the compliment. In her mind, this was probably the greatest compliment that she could have gotten from her mentor. This did make her feel happy on the inside and she was just able to break a smile. That was until the fatigue that she felt became greater and she fell back onto her pillow.
"Are you alright Louise?" asked Elizabeth who was still very concerned about her oversized apprentice.
"Y-Yeah, I'm just really fatiguée," replied Louise. It was around this moment in time when she realised the aura that had been around her during the battle with the giant mech. This was still something that she was trying to wrap her head around since it just seemed so unbelievable to her. "I felt a great power within me, it's like the gift that God gave me went into overdrive."
Elizabeth too wasn't entirely sure what had happened just during those events. But one thing that she didn't want to mention was that when Louise had powered up in the way that she had, she had been a little intimidated by her.
She knew how Louise prided herself on being a kind person so that people didn't fear her over her size. The last thing that the French wanted to be to anyone was intimidating, which had helped her gain great support from the citizens and those around the world. But after what had happened, it was likely that people wouldn't be able to see her the same way again. Even though her actions had been careful, there was no doubt that she had seemed to be a scary being.
There was something else that the French giantess quickly realised, something that caused her some concern. As she looked at Elizabeth, seeing her mentor seemingly unharmed wasn't too surprising. But there was the question of the other Guardian that she was greatly concerned about.
"Serena, is she alright?" asked Louise as she moved in her bed a little. However, this action did cause her some discomfort. Her fatigue was increasing at every moment and her body was aching all over.
"Serena's fine Louise," replied Elizabeth as she wanted to put her apprentice's fears to rest. "She's just out popped out to get a drink. Now you just rest and try to get some of your strength back."
Louise wanted to say something else but she found herself unable to as her eyelids grew heavier with every passing moment. Eventually, her glowing red eyes began to shut and before she knew it, she was once again asleep. Just those few minutes of being awake had tired her out completely.
All that Elizabeth could do was look at her oversized apprentice and was just glad that she was seemingly alright. There was still the fatigue for the French giantess but eventually, that would subside. All she could do was sit back down onto the chair that was close by and try to get some rest for herself.
She was so tired herself that she didn't even notice Serena approaching her with two warm cups of latte in her hand. When she did reach her former mentor, Elizabeth was startled for the moment before thanking Serena for the drink. She hoped that the caffeine would be able to keep her awake a bit longer.
Serena too had been very worried about Louise as well, but not quite to the level of Elizabeth. She had only stepped away for a few minutes and was more than disappointed to hear that Louise had been awake for a few minutes before going back to sleep.
"What she was awake?" asked Serena with some shock in her voice. "I can't believe that I missed it." She took a sip out of her latte and noticed that there was a little less sugar within it than she would have liked. "How was she?"
"Given the circumstances she was fine," replied Elizabeth as she looked down at her much shorter fellow Guardian. "Of course, she was still worried about the people of the city. Can't say I'm too surprised by that."
"She wouldn't be Louise if she didn't. Saying that, I think you need to go home and rest yourself. You've been here days now."
"I know, I know. I told myself that I would be here for her when she woke up. Now that she has, I still don't want to leave her side."
"That's understandable, but you're not going to be much help for her if you can barely stay awake yourself. You heard what the doctors said, all she needs is rest." She was still surprised about this diagnosis. Louise had been beaten to a bloody pulp before she had transformed. But now, her body had no signs of these injuries at all.
"But still, I can't help but be concerned." She took another sip of her latte and was hoping that some gaps in her knowledge was going to be filled. "Has there been any news about where that giant robot came from and who created it?"
"No, but whoever created it seems to have knowledge on robotics that is way ahead of even the top professors in the field. All that we know so far is that they were able to remotely control the robot."
"So it wasn't simply following a programming or piloted on the inside? Somehow I'm not surprised by this. But it does mean that there is someone out there who can create a weapon of mass destruction. But there was something I couldn't help but notice, it seemed that it was primarily trying to kill Louise."
"What makes you say that?" It was something that she had considered herself, but had said nothing about it for the time being.
"Whenever she was around, the robot focused on her. The weapon it used on me was just to incapacitate, it wasn't trying to actually harm me. Plus, it still didn't make any sense for it to be so big if it wasn't designed specifically to destroy Louise. But anyway that you look at it, we have to find the person responsible as quickly as possible before they decide to strike again.
