Description

Elizabeth couldn’t help but walk towards the tree and look at it. Just moments before it had been bare and seemed more or less dead.

Now it was completely recovered with every branch covered in leaves and even having a healthier colour to it. This was something that was hard to properly comprehend.

It only took a few moments for her to look behind herself and could clearly see her apprentice standing there. Or at least the closest thing to her apprentice as the actual woman herself was far out of reach. She could see the nervous expression on her face and she was more than concerned about what had happened.

“Louise did you do this?” asked Elizabeth. She was careful with her words and her tone. Knowing how this showed just how powerful the young Frenchwoman was.

“I-I’m not sure Lizzie,” replied Louise as she stepped towards the tree. With some care, she placed hand onto it. Almost in an instant, she could feel something it, something that she couldn’t put her finger on exactly. It was as if she felt not only the tree but everything that connected it. “This is amazing.”

“What is it?” She still seemed quite worried but did nothing for the moment as she was unsure exactly what to do.

“I feel the connection between this and every living thing in the world.”

“What? Just from this tree?” As Elizabeth looked at it, it didn’t seem to be anything special. It was much like the majority of the thousands upon thousands of trees that she had seen during her lifetime.

“Not exactly, everything is connected. From the largest of creatures to the smallest. That’s how God made the world and I can feel it.” There was a tear that seemed to be rolling down her cheek. “It’s beautiful.”

Elizabeth was trying to think about what she was going to say but the words simply couldn’t leave her mouth. If Louise was truly connected to every living thing in the world. This placed her abilities on a level that was hard to properly fathom. The Englishwoman thought that her own superhuman strength and durability had made her unstoppable. But now she was beginning to think otherwise.

Louise still had barely said anything as she continued to place her hand on the tree and simply feel the world underneath her fingertips. In her mind, she could feel just how connected everything in the world truly was. However, she could feel her true body underneath the ground.

From what she could sense, she could see herself in the foetal position. Her body had been glowing and there was even a small chance that she had experienced a minor growth spurt during that time. But the energy that she was producing was seeping into everything that was around her. Through the layers upon layers of molten lava that covered her and went all the way up to the Earth’s crust. Not a single spot on Earth couldn’t be touched by the energy and even sure wasn’t fully aware about what this meant.

That wasn’t the only thing that she could feel as well. Thousands of miles south to the Amazon Rainforest, she could see that there were many trees that were beginning to grow back on land that was no longer in use. There had been mighty trees growing there some years ago before they had been cut down. But now they were regrowing at a rate that was completely impossible.

Elsewhere, Louise could feel the deadly radiation around the abandoned Ukrainian city of Pripyat beginning to seep away into the ground. A process that was supposed to take thousands of years seemed to happen in a few seconds. Even the destroyed reactor at the Chernobyl plant just outside of the city was being bathed with a red glow that seemed to last several moments.

It eventually subsided and the once most dangerous object in the world became completely free of any radioactive properties. Making it for the first time in its history, that the derelict object behind the greatest manmade disaster in history. Was now completely safe to stand right next to. Although it was likely that no one would be doing such a thing for an incredibly long time.

The oil that had been seeped into the ocean after the numerous disasters involving oil tankers and offshore drilling rigs accidents over the years was being filtered out. Thousands of tons of what had been crude oil was finally being eradicated from the oceans, once again making it completely clean once more.

Elizabeth had no idea that any of this was happening. All she knew was what she was seeing with her own eyes. By now, Louise had taken her hand off of the tree that had miraculously returned to life. She had an inkling about what was happening across the world and she really wasn’t sure what to say.

There was a cool wind that did blow through, it was nothing more than a light breeze but it was still enough to make Elizabeth feel a shiver down her spine. However, Louise didn’t really react to the cool wind and instead just stood there and looked at the woman who was her mentor.

“Now what do we do?” asked Elizabeth as she took a few steps towards the redhaired Frenchwoman. “You can’t stand out here for the entire time.”

“I know,” replied Louise. Subconsciously, she wasn’t even aware that her height was increasing. It wasn’t even to make herself giant size like many were used to seeing her. Instead, it was merely to match her mentor’s own incredible height. “Maybe I’ll just sink away for a little bit. There’s still a lot that I need to wrap my head around. “

“Wait, but you’ve only just come back, you don’t need to go away again.” She was becoming worried over this and she watched as Louise smiled back at her.

“It’ll be alright, besides I can’t actually go into any buildings. A part of me always has to be touching the ground. So as much as I would love to go somewhere else, maybe even go back home. Right now, I can’t.”

“Then what are you going to do?”

“I think I need a little time to think. I’m not sure exactly how long, but I’ll probably see you soon enough.”

“Wait, what are you talking about?”

Before Elizabeth could get any kind of answer, she could see Louise beginning to sink into the ground. The process only took a few moments for the Frenchwoman to disappear from view completely. Leaving her mentor to stand there by herself and still clueless over what had happened.

For a moment, she thought that Louise had just decided to go somewhere else in the world. Maybe back to France like she had done before, but it seemed different this time. As if she needed to be away from people for the time being. She couldn’t put her finger on it at all, but she was confident that Louise would return. It would take her own time but might still be a while.

Before she could decide to do anything else, she could feel a tug on her arm and she could see the officer who had brought her here. It seemed that it was finally time for her t go back to jail as it was decided what to do with her. Since she had broken the law, there was definitely going to be some kind of punishment behind it.

However, what Elizabeth was most likely worried about when it came to that was whether she would be staying in Canada. There was a good chance that she would be sent back to the UK and her time as the primary Guardian of New Cardiff would come to an abrupt end.

It seems like Louise is some kind of a goddess now.
