Guardians Of The Northern City: Chapter 127

There was a stunned silence from Elizabeth as she was still trying to figure out what she was seeing. In her field of vision was the headless body of her apprentice Louise. However, rather than lying on the floor lifeless, she was instead trying to feel where her head had once been. In a way, it was comical, if not for the situation at hand.

Suddenly in a matter of moments, Louise’s head suddenly sprouted out from where it was supposed to have been. It was like something out of a cartoon and it almost seemed as though nothing had ever happened. Even though she had just done something that was thought to be impossible.

“Ta-da!” stated Louise as if she had just pulled off some kind of trick. However, rather than getting an applause or anything like that, instead she was met with a stern expression from her mentor.

“This isn’t a joke!” replied Elizabeth who had her hands on her hips which showed her displeasure. “What the bloody hell just happened? You were never able to do anything like that before!”

“Well, I have changed a petite since then,” She seemed to be quite worried about what she was going to say.

“More than that, how are you so small and what happened with your legs then? Not just that but how the bloody hell did you regrow your head?”

“It’s because….because. Well, I’m not the real Louise.”

“Wait what?” She was more confused than ever before. “Are you some kind of sick mockery of her or something?”

“N-No, not that. The real Louise is still underground.” She pointed down to the ground as she said this and her tone was quieter than usual. “I’m not sure exactly how large she is, but she’s definitely bigger than she was before. I’m not sure exactly how to explain, but it is like she has merged with the Earth itself.”

Elizabeth fell silent as she was trying to figure out exactly what she had been told. But it still only give her more questions than answers. No doubt she thought that things wouldn’t be this complicated.

“Ok if that is the case, then what are you?” asked Elizabeth as she finally was able to actually say anything.

“Well, it’s a little hard to say,” replied Louise as she too was trying to think about what she was going to say. “You could say that I am Louise’s representative here. While she’s underground, I’m here so that she can speak to people and they can speak to her.”

“Like an avatar?”

“Excuse-moi?”

“You’re an avatar, you control this body but you’re not the actual person. It’s why I noticed that you needed to have some kind of contact with the ground. Even when I threw you up into the air, rather than simply going up like a normal person. Your legs stretched itself so that your feet should be on the ground at all times.”

“I guess so yes. But also I think I can change myself in other ways.”

“Hmm, how so?” She seemed curious but a part of her did suspect what she was about to be told.

“Well, one thing I can do is this…” Her appearance began to change, but rather than her actual being changing, it instead was the clothes that she was wearing. In a matter of moments, it had morphed from being that of her well known yellow outfit to the green dress that she was also known for.

“So you can change your clothes, that’s it?” In a way, she felt that it was disappointing, although she was sure that it would be useful.”

“Not just that…”

Mere moments after she had said this, Elizabeth did notice that she was at eye level with her apprentice. This only lasted a few moments before she was having to look down at her. What took her a few moments to realise was that the Frenchwoman was actually becoming smaller. Although at first she did suspect that she was merely sinking into the ground. However, this wasn’t the case this time as she was genuinely getting smaller.

The process seemed to continue on for several moments as the former giantess continued to shrink smaller and smaller with every passing second. For a few moments, she couldn’t help but think that Louise was going to shrink until she disappeared completely. However, thankfully the process did eventually come to a stop. By then, Louise was only a few inches in height.

To her, the towering figure of Elizabeth went down to one knee and she was truly gigantic in comparison to her apprentice. In a way, this was quite comical since it was the norm for the scales to be reversed.

“I have to admit that I’m impressed,” stated Elizabeth as she gently grabbled onto the now tiny body of Louise. Like before, she tried to pick her up, but she could see the tiny woman’s legs stretching as she did, making sure that she was still in direct contact to the ground below. “Are you able to go the other way?”

“Bien sûr Lizzie,” replied Louise with a smile on her face.

No sooner had Louise said these words, she immediately began to expand her body. Her size increased at a dramatic and even frightening pace. This caused her to have to make her way backwards so that she wasn’t knocked over by the growing woman.

There was even a lot of dust that was kicked up by the sudden growth spurt. So much so that it was difficult to see her.

Elizabeth couldn’t help but cough from all the dust that had been kicked up. However, before she could say anything, she could see that she was engulfed by a shadow. Slowly, she craned her head up and up before she found herself looking at the gigantic figure of Louise standing above her. With the giantess smiling down at her and her head seemed to be hiding the sun below her.

“Bonjour again,” said Louise as she continued to smile and loom over her mentor. In a way, it was exactly how others were used to seeing her.

“Interesting,” replied Elizabeth. Even she was used to having to look up to the towering Frenchwoman. “But it does make sense that you can change your size now. Although then again, it’s not actually you is it?”

“No, it’s not.” She moved carefully so that she could sit herself down on the ground. As she was doing this, Elizabeth did notice that a part of Louise’s body was touching the ground. “But I’m the next best thing.”

“Yes you are.” She watched as a gigantic hand came down just in front of her. There was no hesitation, she stepped onto the palm and allowed herself to be lifted up into the air. As this happened, the tall Englishwoman crouched down and placed her hand on the skin on the giantess.

As she did, she could still feel the warmth and softness of the hand. Even though this was only an avatar of Louise and not actually the woman herself. It was a perfect replica as she felt warm and safe in the hand of the giantess. It was clear that the creation was indeed made by the actual Louise as no one could recreate such a thing. The essence of the woman was still there and simply seeing her smile was enough to make her know that Louise was truly here.

“There’s probably more that I can do,” said Louise with a cheerful chuckle that seemed to put anyone who heard it at ease. “But I’m not entirely sure yet, however I do know there’s somewhere I need to be right now.”

“Wait, what are you talking about?”

Before an answer could be given, it seemed that Louise was once again seeped into the ground. There was nothing that could be done by Elizabeth to stop it as she saw her apprentice disappearing. Since she had been in the giantess’s hand, she found herself lowering towards the ground as Louise continued to sink further.

Elizabeth did experience a flashback of that night when she had watched a near mountain size Louise sink into the ground without any control whatsoever. This time was different however as it was completely controlled and there was even a wink from the French giantess as she disappeared completely.

It seemed almost impossible that there had just been someone who was close to a hundred feet in height there a few moments ago. But the big question was where Louise had actually gone?
