Guardians Of The Northern City: Chapter 108

Elizabeth waited for around an hour before anyone actually entered the room. Thankfully, there had been a chair that had been present for her to sit on. But she had heard it groaning under her weight. Fearing that at any moment that it could collapse, sending her down to the ground. It wouldn’t cause her any harm but rather was going to cause her a small amount of embarrassed.

The two people who entered the room were both quite short in comparison to the towering Englishwoman. Once again, they were people who she had never met before but their outfits were military in style but seemed to be a little more formal. It was quite surprising for her to see, but she was still keeping herself calm. The last thing that she wanted was to lose her composure despite everything that had happened.

“Ms. Pryde?” asked One of the Military Personnel. He was a surprisingly short man with dark skin and no hair on his head. His build was fairly large though although his strength was nothing in comparison to her.

“Yes,” replied Elizabeth. She didn’t stand up from where she was as she feared that the chair itself could break. “May I ask how much longer I have to stay here and where my colleague has been taken?”

“As long as we need to. Of course, these series of events are unprecedented and we need to know everything that we can. Your apprentice became a threat unlike any other that the world has ever seen. Yet, she has seemingly disappeared without a trace. If you ask me, someone who was taller than any manmade object ever simply disappearing like that is pretty suspicious.”

“She sank into the ground.” Elizabeth knew that what she was saying seemed to be quite unbelievable, but it was the truth nonetheless.

“What?” replied the second personnel who was present. He was a taller man who seemed more than shocked by what he was hearing. He thought that he might have misheard something and wanted clarification. “Care to elaborate?”

“It’s like I said, Louise sank into the ground. I don’t know exactly how that happened, believe me I want to know myself. But she disappeared completely, before I even knew how to help her.”

“Is this some kind of joke?”

“If only it was. Then I would know that my apprentice is safe. I seriously don’t know exactly where she is now. Like I said, she sank into the ground as if she was on quicksand and disappeared completely. I don’t think I know exactly how it happened, but it did and there’s no other way that I can say it.”

The two men wanted to simply think that this was some kind of elaborate joke from Elizabeth. But when it came to the abilities of Guardians, there was so much that wasn’t even understood. Their abilities defied the laws of science. Louise being a good example since under the laws of physics she should not have been able to even to support her own body weight. Yet she had been able to move around and live as if she were a normal size person, much to the confusion of scientists and mathematicians all over the world.

“Now I want to ask a question of you,” stated Elizabeth as she was clearly still not happy with the events that were taking place.

“And what is that?” replied the taller man. He seemed to be quite cautious with his posture and tone.

“Can you tell me what is happening to Serena?” The way that she stood made her very intimidating to the others. It only made it clear that she wanted to know the answer as soon as possible.

“Your fellow Guardian is being observed. As you can imagine, her change is quite baffling. Especially since on our file, being able to make herself smaller isn’t an ability that she is known to possess."

"But still, I want her returned to me as soon as possible.” She knew that what she was asking was going to be unlikely, but she did hope that her status as a Guardian might allow her some sway in the matter.

“Unfortunately something like that is impossible for the time being. We are observing her and seeing if there is any way that we can help her.”

“Can I at least see her?”

There was some silence between the two men. Their interview was being watched by a few of their superiors and they also had an earpiece each. This allowed their superiors to speak directly to them.

Both of them took a moment to listen to what was being said by their superiors. It only took a few moments but they tried to make it seem as though they were simply standing. Elizabeth on the other hand knew exactly what was happening and simply stood there and waited for their response.

“Ok, you may see her but that would be as far as it goes,” stated the Shorter Man. He was only repeating what hi superiors had told him, but he was still willing to go along with what had been proposed.

“If that is how it has to be then so be it,” replied Elizabeth as she knew better than to rock the boat so to speak.

With that, the towering Englishwoman was led out of the interview room. Each step that she took was with some care as she was taking in everything that she saw. This facility didn’t seem to be anything special and seemed to have only been used simply because it was the closest to where all of this had taken place.

There were several soldiers who were going through drills and performing their duties. A few of them did look over to Elizabeth as she walked by since for many of them, it was the first time seeing her in the flesh. They did think that she was much taller than they expected, since most of the pictures with her had been next to Louise. Making her look very small despite her impressive height.

Eventually, they came to a fairly small room where she could see that there were a couple of military soldiers inside. There was also a table that was in the centre that was room and what looked to be a tray of some kind. Carefully, she focused on this tray and she saw something that did make her smile as she was genuinely happy to see something that was there, something that was familiar.

Lying on the tray was the still tiny body of Serena who was thankfully covered by a small piece of cloth. This was to keep her warm since she was still naked, but there was definitely something that Elizabeth could be glad about. This was the simple fact that her former apprentice hadn’t gotten any smaller than she had before. It was a small blessing but one nonetheless.

Almost as soon as Elizabeth began to look over Serena, the tiny woman began to move a little. It was as if she was stirring and there was a groan that came through her very small lips. Mere moments later, her eyes began to open and she seemed to be in a state of confusion. This was to be expected after everything that she had been through but at least the first thing that she saw was her former mentor. At least to her, it would have been a friendly face to wake up to.

“Serena are you alright?” asked Elizabeth as she looked down at the tiny woman. She saw an expression of surprise on her face and this made her extremely worried.

“E-Elizabeth?” replied Serena who was confused with what she was seeing. Her sense of scale was completely off at this moment in time. Not even realising what had happened. “You’re enormous!”

“I’m sorry to tell you, but I’m not actually big.” She was thinking of the best way to tell her former apprentice about what had happened to her. “It’s you, you’re tiny.”

“Wait what?”

This was when Serena actually got up to her feet and began to look around with an expression that showed just how surprised she truly was. Not only did she look at the towering giantess in front of her and she also panned her vision to her surroundings. There she could see several everyday objects which were enormous in comparison to her. She could even see the two other personnel who were present.

Her face instantly turned red as she realised that she was completely naked. Quickly, she grabbed the cloth that had been keeping her warm and went down to her knees so that she could try and hide her nudity. This did bring up some annoyance from Elizabeth as she glared over to the two personnel.

The two military personnel knew better than to keep watching and they tried to turn their heads away. But there was still plenty that needed to be sorted out. Such as returning Serena to her normal size and finding out what had happened to Louise.
