Description
Elizabeth couldn't help but look on with great surprise and worry as she looked at the area where Louise had once been. Unfortunately, she was completely gone and she had no idea if her apprentice had simply now passed away or if something else had happened to her. Something more fantastical.
There were loud moaning sounds from the two dinosaur like creatures as they were seemingly mourning the loss of someone very important to them. Henri even nudged his snout in the ground in the hopes of sensing Louise in some way. Unfortunately, there was simply nothing.
Very sad growls could be heard from both creatures as they didn't like the fact that their mother figure was gone. They remembered all the times when she had showed them kindness where others would treat them as nothing more than monsters. Even Elizabeth seemed to be showing some sadness.
For her, memories of a previous apprentice were flooding back to her who had destroyed herself in an explosion. Although it hadn't been her fault, she still blamed herself for what had happened. She had been her mentor and it seemed that the same thing had happened to Louise.
Before she could think of anything else, there was the sound of helicopters flying overhead. Not just that but there was also sounds of pain from the two dinosaur like creatures as they had felt something strike them. Exactly what it was, was unknown to them. But very quickly, they felt themselves becoming quite lightheaded.
They began to stagger on their feet before they suddenly fell down to the ground unconscious.
"What the?" asked Elizabeth who seemed to be quite confused by what had happened. She began to look around as she tried to figure out the events that was taking place. This was until she suddenly saw numerous soldiers coming out of the forest just ahead of her. The fact that they were there so quickly was a surprise.
"Stand down!" stated a voice. It was clearly from whoever the commanding officer of these soldiers was at the time. The statement seemed to be quite redundant as no weapon that they possessed could harm Elizabeth. But even so, she still put her hands up, simply to show that she didn't intend them any harm.
"I am the Guardian Elizabeth Pryde," replied Elizabeth who wanted to be clear who she was to these soldiers. "Please do not fire!"
Cautiously, the soldiers began to move forward. There were easily several dozen of them and Elizabeth simply stayed where she was.
Their movements were very cautious with how they were moving. This did make her slightly nervous but she didn't want to do anything that would antagonise them, even though they were technically on the same side.
"I wish to speak to your commanding officer," asked Elizabeth even though she couldn't help but feel like she was trying to file a customer complaint in a store.
Slowly, one of the soldiers to come forward. Some of them did ease up and lower their weapons while a few of them did keep their weapons trained near the towering Elizabeth. He was a fairly tall man but still looked quite short in comparison to her and he didn't seem to be intimidated by her at all. His outfit clearly showed that he was a military man and he did have a rifle in his hands. However, it was lowered to help show that he had no intention of shooting her, even if it would cause no harm to her.
"I am Sergeant Kowalski," stated the Man. His voice was stern but also respectful to her. "I am in command of these soldiers."
"Thank you Sergeant," replied Elizabeth who did appreciate him coming forward. However, she knew that his ranking was too low for him to have decided to attack Louise. But for the time being, he was the highest ranking military personnel that she had come across during this whole event. "The danger has passed now and these creatures need to be transported back into their enclosure."
"That is not up to me. We've been given orders to detain them until it is decided what to do with them."
"Does that include putting them down?"
"That information is classified. But I think we have a more pressing matter to attend to. Your apprentice has been labelled a danger to society, where has she disappeared to? A woman of her size doesn't just turn into thin air just like that."
"My apprentice was no more of a threat than a mouse is to a lion. But if you really have to know, she sank into the ground here."
"Sank into the ground?" He seemed to be quite confused and even seem to be a little annoyed by what he was hearing. "Is this some kind of joke?"
"If only it were, I can't explain it that much further myself. But she simply sank into the ground as if she had been on quicksand. I know it sounds unbelievable but it is nothing short of the truth.
The Sergeant didn't really know whether what Elizabeth was saying was true or not. To him, it seemed too fantastical, but it also made him think that there was indeed a possibility. He had heard that Guardians possessed abilities that were often beyond comprehension for most people.
Louise sinking into the ground was not outside of the realm of possibility when it came to Guardians. Also, it was impossible for someone as large as her to simply disappear. Even if she had become smaller somehow, the energy that she had been producing made her light up like a Christmas tree. For it to be completely gone was not only seemed implausible but also impossible.
Before he could say another word, the Sergeant noticed something moving around in Elizabeth's pocket. This seemed to worry him as he quickly picked up his gun and pointed it directly at her.
"What's in your pocket!" stated Sargeant Kowalski. His voice was loud and commanding with the other soldiers also lifting their guns and training them entirely on her. Even if it would have been futile.
"That would be my former apprentice." She slowly began to move her hand to her pocket. She made sure not to make any sudden movements, just so that she didn't set off the soldiers. Instead, she just took out the tiny Serena who still seemed to be coming around after everything that had happened.
"What happened to her?" There was still some worry in his voice and he had yet to lower his rifle.
"I'm not entirely sure myself. All I know is that she ended up like this and I'm worried that she might still be shrinking."
There was a thought in the mind of the Sargeant that something similar might have happened to Louise. That she had somehow shrunk in size and was the reason for her disappearance. But he was still unsure about everything that he didn't know for sure. All he knew was that Elizabeth would have to go along with him and the rest of the army.
"I'm going to have to suggest that you come up us ma'am," stated Sargeant Kowalski. He knew that if she didn't want to, Elizabeth wouldn't come with them and there was nothing that they could do to stop her. He had read her files and seen how strong and durable she actually was.
"Very well," replied Elizabeth who placed the still stirring Serena back into her pocket. She knew that it was better for her to go along with them rather than starting some kind of battle with them.
Elizabeth still wanted to know what had happened to Louise, but it was clear that she was no longer there. There was a temptation to use her strength to try and dig her way into the ground to find her apprentice. But she knew that it would be fruitless as the giantess would most likely was continuing to sink further and further.
Around an hour later, Elizabeth found herself in a classified military facility that she had never visited before. Instead she was inside of what seemed to be a fairly cramped office like room. The ceiling itself was lower than she expected as she it was only a few inches above her head when she stood at her full height.
Before this time, she had been thoroughly searched, just in case like Serena, Louise had been shrunk and was hiding on her mentor's person. As she expected, they found no sign of the French Giantess and instead, they simply took Serena away so that they could monitor her and what had happened.
All that Elizabeth could do for now was simply wait. It would be easy for her to simply break her way out of the room and the facility in general. But she knew that it wouldn't do them any good at all.
Instead, she knew that it was best to simply wait and see what happened, although she was more than worried about Louise and what her fate was.
Render By Crazy Red Hair.
I hope Elizabeth and Serena are okay.
