Previous Chapter
www.deviantart.com/a0040pc/art…Diane attempted to continue on with her journey but her frustration seemed to be increasing as she did. This wasn't because of her recent change in size, rather it was the fact that she continued to be walking around in circles. She kept coming across the same lake over and over again.
At this point in time, the elongated giantess even thought that someone had placed a curse on her that caused her to be stuck in some kind of loop. No such thing had actually taken place and she had simply lost her sense of direction. No matter which way she looked at it, the results stayed the same.
No matter how much Diane walked, she simply wasn't making any progress. Each time she saw the lake, she simply grunted in frustration but after she had walked passed if for the fifth time. Her annoyance got the better of her and she kicked a couple of nearby trees. Not knowing her own strength, the trees were sent flying through the air at a speed that was unthinkable to most people.
The trees did eventually fall out of the sky and land on the ground, but this was a few hundred miles away from where they had originally stood. One even landed on the manor of a lord who had no idea how an entire tree could land on his property. All that he could do was try to figure out exactly what had happened and repair any damage that had been done.
A few hundred miles away, Diane was continuing to try and make her way to Merlin. However, the bizarre looking giantess was trying to take extra care that she didn't walk around in circles again. One way that she did this was to look at the ground and look at the footprints that she had created during her last walk.
This seemed to be the way forward for her as she quickly came across a patch of ground where her footprints didn't appear. Therefore convincing her that she hadn't been this way and also meant that she was making progress. At least, that was what the elongated giantess had been hoping.
This illusion was shattered when reached a particular section of the landscape that was all too familiar. On the ground below, she could see numerous footprints that were of a great size and in the shape of someone who had been wearing a boot. Not just that, but she also spotted a body of water that was close by as well. The lake that she had spotted was partially drained and this only led to one conclusion.
"No it can't be!" stated Diane as she realised what she was witnessing. "I walked in a circle again!" She even noticed the space where the trees that she had kicked away had been. "Why is it so difficult? Why can't I walk in a straight damn line?!"
The elongated giantess would have likely lashed out once again but she was more concerned about a familiar feeling that she was experiencing. Her stomach began to growl, a clear indication that she was hungry. Last time it had taken an entire town's resources in order to satisfy her hunger. She feared that the same might happen again.
What Diane didn't realise was that she wasn't alone. Just behind a bush that was below her notice, the two Natasha and Nadine were witnessing to them was an unbelievable sight. Both of them looked on with amazement as they could see the elongated giantess standing there and grunting in frustration.
They had used her footprints in order to track her and despite their size, they simply thought that what they were going to come across was the Diane that they had heard about from second hand accounts. Instead, they looked upon definitely wasn't what they had been expecting.
Both looked on with sheer amazement as they tried to process what they were seeing. Natasha's confidence was beginning to slip away as they could see what they were going up against. She was just glad that they hadn't been spotted yet. Nadine on the other hand seemed to be on the verge of a full blown panic attack.
"I-I know that giants are supposed to be really big, but they're not supposed to get that big!" said Nadine as she was more than terrified by what she was seeing. The long staff that she was carrying was shaking in her hand.
"This changes nothing," replied Natasha. Although she seemed to be calm, on the inside she was panicking just as much as her companion. "You can still shrink her down to human size can't you?"
"I-I don't know. I've never tried to shrink anything that big. Can you see how long her legs are?" In a way, she couldn't help but admire the elongated giantess for this aspect of her body. Nadine had always wanted to be taller and she wouldn't have minded having legs like Diane's.
"I have the upmost confidence in you." The ground suddenly shook as Diane stomped her foot on the ground and continued to shout out her frustrations. This did cause the two not quite Holy Knights to reconsider for the briefest of moments. But the tall woman soon regained her composure. "Remember the plan, as long as we follow that, we have nothing to worry about."
Nadine was still not as confident as her comrade but she still remembered what they had discussed before. As long as she shrank Diane to human size, they would supposedly have the upper hand, even though she knew that was doubtful. But she still lifted began to concentrate and lifted up her staff.
This was soon followed by a short incantation before shouting the word 'Microscopic'. This was soon followed by a sphere of magical energy that fired out of the staff and began to travel directly towards Diane. The elongated giantess was too caught up in her own frustration to notice what was happening.
She had no idea that a shrinking spell had been fired towards her but it was one that she had experienced before. Last time she was struck with this particular spell, she had gone from being a thirty foot giant to becoming so small that she could be held in the hand of a regular human. At her current scale, the spell wouldn't shrink her as small but still be something that she would have to worry about.
Both Natasha and Nadine were more than pleased to see the spell heading directly towards Diane's very long legs and it looked as though nothing could stop it from striking it's target. However, something unexpected happened that caught both so-called Holy Knights completely by surprise.
Rather than striking her, the spell that Nadine had cast seemingly bounced right off of Diane's leg and was directed straight back towards where the two women were hiding. Nadine herself was able to leap out of the way but for Natasha, she was too dumbstruck to even consider moving. This was a big mistake on her behalf as the spell struck her directly in the chest.
The next thing she knew, she could see the bush that she had been hiding behind begin to grow larger. This wasn't the only thing that was growing as she could clearly see that Nadine too was growing in size. The spellcaster might be lying where she had leapt out of the way, but it was still clear that she was becoming larger.
It took several moments for Natasha to realise that it wasn't Nadine or the bush that was growing. The simple fact that it was herself that was shrinking. The now formerly tall woman was shrinking quickly. Within moments she was the same height as her comrade then around half her height and then barely knee height.
The shrinking only continued and she was worried that she was going to shrink to the size of an ant or worse, disappear completely from view. Seeing the world around her become gigantic was absolutely terrifying for her. Especially since it seemed as though the process wasn't stopping.
Much to her delight, the shrinking did eventually stop but the next thing that Natasha knew, she was looking up to a gigantic Nadine. Her companion seemed to be as tall as a castle tower, even though she was only supposed to be five feet in height. The ground shook slightly as the seemingly gigantic spellcaster went down to one knee and looked at the tiny woman on the ground who was now only a few inches tall.
"You were supposed to shrink Diane, not me you idiot!" shouted Natasha at the top of her lungs. This wasn't just to show her frustration but also so that her companion could hopefully hear her.
"I'm sorry!" replied Nadine as she reached down and placed the palm of her hand in front of the tiny woman. With a small amount of reluctance, Natasha did step onto the hand and allowed herself to be lifted up. Even though she was now no bigger than the spellcaster's thumb. "My spell reflected right off of her."
"But how is that possible?"
"Well there's one of two ways that it could have happened. The first is that Diane was able to defend herself by constructing a magic barrier." She then looked up a little as she could still see the elongated giantess allowing her frustration get the better of her. It was clear that she was completely unaware of what had just happened. "But I doubt that since giants aren't known for such a thing. The only other explanation is that whatever magic has caused her to be the way that she is, is far more powerful than the spell that I used. Even if I cast it again, the same thing would happen."
"Damn." She realised that the plan that she had set out was now impossible. Shrinking Diane to a more manageable size was a key element to it. Without this aspect, the plan was completely in tatters. But right now, Natasha had bigger problems to worry about. "You can fix me though, right?"
