The townspeople could only watch as the abnormal looking giantess continued to walk towards Hallford. Each stride she took brought her closer and closer to her destination and even she was surprised with her progress. Thanks to her long legs, the strides were much longer than they had been before and thus, her strides covered more ground than they did before.
A walk that would take a regular person a couple of hours was achieved by Diane in around a minute or so. When she finally saw Hallford, she couldn't help but think that it looked abnormal. She was used to seeing a town that was too small for the likes of herself. But this was at a level that even she struggled to wrap her head around.
Even though she was a giantess, there would normally be something within a town that was taller than herself. Like a church or a belltower of some kind. This time it wasn't the case since the tallest building didn't even reach her knees. It almost seemed like what she was seeing was a child's toy rather than a functioning town.
Already, Diane had noticed that there was a crowd of people just outside of Hallford who were looking directly towards her. Being stared at was something that she wouldn't enjoy under regular circumstances, but given the fact that her body was the way it was at that moment in time. She could understand why she was currently the centre of attention. If she was in their position, she would likely have done the same.
A part of her wanted to turn around and walk away as she couldn't help but feel nervous. This thought was quickly dismissed when she felt her stomach growling again. It was almost as if it was shouting at her to carry on with what she was doing. The fact that she had lost another argument with her stomach in only a handful of minutes.
"Err hi there," said Diane as she smiled and waved at the townspeople who had gathered just on the outskirts of Hallford. Her mind was trying to decide on what the best thing that she could say to them. From her elevated vantage point, she could see that there was some fear amongst them. "I know that suddenly showing up like this isn't what you expected to happen today but I…"
"It's Diane of the Seven Deadly Sins!" shouted one of the Townspeople. It was clear that whoever they were had been able to recognise her. This did make introducing herself far easier but now all she could do was wait and see how they would react now that they knew who she was.
Instead of being terrified, Diane could see the townspeople celebrating and welcoming her. Many questions were being thrown at her so quickly that she struggled to answer them. Surprisingly, none of them were about her height but instead things about her adventures as a member of the Seven Deadly Sins or her comrades. Some of the questions that she received were those that she didn't want to answer, even under the best of circumstances. But she did try to answer as many as she could.
Her stomach growled again which reminded her of why she had come to this town in the first place. Carefully, she went down to one knee and continued to look down at the tiny people in front of her. Each one was only a couple of inches tall at most in comparison to her and she knew that she would have to be careful. The last thing she wanted was to terrify these people in front of her.
"I would love to stand here and answer all of your questions," said Diane as she could feel herself becoming increasingly hungry. "But would you be so kind as to give me some food? I'm absolutely starving."
"Y-You want food?" replied one of the Townspeople. He was a fairly old looking man who wore an outfit that made the giantess think that he was quite rich. She didn't know that he was the mayor of Hallford and had come here to see if there was a threat to his town. Instead, he was looking at someone who he saw as a heroine along with the rest of her squad. She watched as he looked over to many of the people around him. "Ok everyone, you heard our guest. Bring her something to eat."
The townspeople listened to their mayor as they quickly dispersed. Many of them were farmers or ran their own business that involved the production or sale of food. It wasn't too long before a piles of various pieces of food began to appear in front of where Diane was kneeling down.
Almost immediately, she sat herself down properly and looked what had been brought out to her. She could see that there was plenty of baked goods, fruit, vegetables, some raw meat and even a few sweet items. Some of it didn't look too appetising to her, especially the raw meat as she would have much preferred for it to have been cooked.
Despite any reservations that Diane might have had about this, her hunger made it so that she didn't care too much about whether the meat was cooked or not. Instead, she just grabbed the pile that was closest to her and immediately tipped it into her open mouth. One thing that she hadn't noticed was that when she had briefly stuck out her tongue that like the rest of her body, it too was longer than it should be. It was likely that it would hang a little lower than her chin, but it was a fact that escaped her.
The townspeople could only watch as Diane continued to pick up the piles of food and devour them. No sooner had food been placed in front of her, she would pick it up and consume it. Some chewing was involved but most of it was swallowed whole and she would immediately move onto the next one.
One person even had to dive out of the way as her hand came down to pick up a pile of bread. It was likely that they wouldn't have been consumed but as far as he was concerned, he wasn't going to take the chance. She might be slowly satisfying her hunger, but it was soon clear that despite everything that had been given to her, it simply wasn't enough.
Diane's goal to feed herself made her begin to look around and was even ignorant to the townspeople below her. There were people trying to say something to her but her brain had decided to drown out their voices and focus simply on the task that was completely on her mind.
It didn't take her long to spot one of the fields that was very close to her. She could see that there were crops growing within it. Exactly what was being grown was unknown to her and at that moment in time, it didn't matter. As long as it was edible and not a sentient being, she didn't really mind what it was.
Better still for Diane was that with her extra size and very long arms, the field was within reaching distance for her. This allowed her to begin to pick the crops without even having to move from where she was. There were still some of the townspeople who were shouting up to her and trying to get her attention. Unfortunately, their words simply didn't reach her as she continued to eat their livelihood.
In a matter of minutes, a field full of crops that were only days away from being harvested had been completely devoured by the hungry giantess. Even though she had just eaten the entire field, her hunger had barely subsided and immediately, she began to look for something else that she could eat.
This time however, she did have to stand up and that was something she did without giving a second thought. The townspeople who had been trying to get her attention could only gasp as she stood to her full height. They might have seen her before standing up, but seeing her do it again was simply something to truly behold.
Over the course of the next several minutes, Diane ate all the crops that were being grown in the fields and had even consumed the life stock that had been on the farms. The townspeople were completely powerless to stop her as it seemed that she had failed to even notice their presence. There were a few of them who had even tried to attack her using whatever weapons that they could get their hands on.
Unfortunately this did nothing as the elongated giantess continued to eat practically whatever she could get her hands on. One by one the fields were being cleared and the livestock disappearing at an alarming rate. There was even a single pig that had tried to flee and at first had thought that they had been successful. Only for the gigantic hand of Diane to come down and pick them up. It was the last thing that it ever felt before it found itself going towards sustaining herself.
It was only when the fields were completely empty and the livestock was gone did she finally stop eating. By then her hunger had subsided and she had eaten an incredible amount, even for her overall size. She hadn't even noticed that her belly had bloated thanks to the sheer volume of food that consumed. The rest of her body did look the same as it had before but her belly still looked to be expanded.
"That really hit the spot," said Diane as she looked down and patted on her belly. "I can't remember the last time I've been so full." She looked down at the townspeople that were around her feet and she gave them a smile. Due to her height, she couldn't see their angry expressions. It also escaped her notice that many of them were shouting at her and wielding pitchforks and torches. "Thanks for everything but I really can't wait around. I need Merlin to change me back to normal. So, I'll see you later and I promise to come and visit when all this insanity has finished."
Diane continued to smile and wave as she began to walk away. Her previous difficulties in walking seemed to have mostly subsided as she was clearly getting more and more used to her new stature. Since her hunger had been satisfied, she felt a lot more confident with the situation that she had found herself in. She genuinely had hope that at the end of the day, everything was going to be alright.
What she didn't realise was that she had eaten what the people of Hallford had spent months carefully cultivating. Without it, not only did they lose their own source of food but also what kept their economy going. It was likely that from that day forth, the name Diane would be a cursed word and she would live to regret her actions.
