Cars were overturned and the topiaries that made the beautifully renovated Atlas Plaza look even more inviting were torn out of the ground. Fires raged everywhere, and the sky was thick with smoke. All was silent and still, and flashing red and blue lights set the plumes of smoke aglow.     A young boy and girl leaned against the platform on which Atlas had been perched. This was a tragic event in my life, but I didn't know that until very recently. This week, in fact. The past couple of days I have been in sudden, unexpected pain, no doubt because I have been repressing my true feelings about the unceremonious closure of the game; pain so severe that it has been physical at times.     Now, I'm going to make it my point to say that this is by no means an NCSoft bashing post. Bittersweet: Happy Anniversary CoH

Brent casually walked down the street, a light jacket zipped clear to the top. Winter still hadn’t fully loosened his tight grasp on the season—for a moment Brent entertained the thought of going all the way to Lord and Lady Winter’s realm to have a word—but no… that would just bring down trouble. Besides, there were no more heroes to join him. He kicked a rock and scowled. It skipped across the pavement. Well—there were heroes—and villains—but they’d all been forced into hiding. What was the excuse used again? Something about perpetuating a cycle? Being too dangerous? Maybe it was that t

Ode to the Fallen

This was probably the stupidest ideas he had ever had—well, maybe not but it certainly seemed like it. Brent gazed out over the large congregation in Prometheus Park, filled with citizens, news media, heroes, and vigilantes. It had been twenty-four hours since the death of Marcus Cole, known to all as the mighty hero Statesman. The news hit Paragon hard, and the city was in mourning. The loss had been particularly rough for Miss Liberty, who had just begun to grieve for her mother. It had been decided that the tribute to Statesman would begin with a public memorial, where heroes could share their memories of their friend, mentor, and rol

I left my heart in Paragon

I left my heart in Paragon

"The loveliness of Prae seems somehow sadly gay, The glory that was Cim is of another day, I've been terribly alone and forgotten in Rogue Isles, I'm going home to my city by the Bay. I left my heart in Paragon City, High on a hill, it calls to me. To be where heroes small and large fly halfway to the stars, The DA fog may chill the air, I don't care. My love waits there in Paragon City, Above the blue and windy sea, When I come home to you, Paragon City. Your golden sun will shine for me." I'm sure Mr. Bennett wont mind me borrowing his song: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/t/tony_bennett/i_left_my_heart_in_san_francisco.html.

My Bio
A writer and recent college grad, currently in the process of completing my first novel, called The War of the Sorcerers. It is one of two series that are in the works, the other of which is called The Tree in the Sky. At this point, I'm not sure which will be finished, but both will be huge projects.

A Strange Weekend is Afoot

A Strange Weekend is Afoot

This weekend marks the 9th Anniversary of City of Heroes. Most of the time, I would be all over that, playing the game with more ferocity than ever. Last year, when we were given the helms of Zeus and Tartarus, I could finally finalize characters that I had built with that exact image in mind. And the year before, with the vanguard costume pieces... well I was thrilled and made a whole bunch of vanguard-y characters. Loved the whole "one-eyes" mask thingy. It is strange to be here, writing this, and not be taking part in the anniversary events. It is strange to me that CoH is gone when it should not be. I would have loved to see the arrival

Sooo I Got Some Other Possible Episode Titles

These are all tentative, of course, and quite full of puns. I decided that, even if the series gets serious on occasion, it doesn't mean the titles always have to be. I try to keep a mixture of levity and drama though - if I take it too seriously there will be issues! So here are some, unnumbered, and not all in this season of Coh: It's Not All Your Faultline Steal Canyon (note: the misspell is intentional) The Cure For ED is Not a Little Blue Pill Getting a Little Creyzy Corporate Sellouts in Paragon City Scirocco's Modern Life There's a Snake in My Boot These won't all stay, but I did think these up at work and I made myself giggle

Tentative 'Episode' Listing

Tentative 'Episode' Listing

As I work on my outline and writing for my CoH fanfiction that I began this week, I've been slowly writing a tentative episode list. This will be expanded on as I write, and the titles are subject to change, but here's the first few. 0 - Prologue: End of Invasion 1 - A Paladin in King's Row 2 - The New Kid on the Block 3 - Go. Hunt. Kill Skuls. 4 - Historians 5 - Strength Training 6 - The Glass Cannon... Well... Glass, at Least 7 - If Security Levels Were Crackers... 8 - Bonebreaker 9 - Outcasts and Trolls 10 - Medical Plans I can kind of figure where things are going now with the story for this series. It's making me happy :)

Haha, of course! Loved the CoH pictures, despite the pangs of sadness they gave me :D
I need to dig out some old CoH fanfics I have and more screenies. Even if it hurts, it still makes me feel closer to the game. :)
Yup yup! Exactly why I'm writing my fanfiction right now. It's an odd sort of catharsis. A part of me always knew I wouldn't be writing it until the game was over, and I'm glad I waited. It's my chance to revisit Paragon.

The Prologue will have to be reworked, I think - I was still trying to find my voice in it - but episode one has been lots of fun.

Definitely pull out the screenshots and fanfic. It helps :D
