Check out the collaboration above then send a note to me, a-kid-at-heart, titled ETS Vote with the name/number of your favorite Act, and the name/number of two other acts worth a mention. Favorites will get 2 points, mentions will get one point. Voting ends midnight September 29th! You can only vote once!

UPDATE: Time is up and the entries are in!
There are a couple of entries that are just a tad late, but I will be adding them to the collaboration as non-competing entries. I really want to give people exposure for the work they did.
If any of you watch Krissi001 you know she has run into a computer problem that will hopefully be fixed in a few weeks. Since she is helping me put the entries together in a flash animation format, voting will start for the Peoples Choice at that time. This gives me the time I need to be sure transitions are done and put some finishing touches on the collab as well.
I will announce all winners at the same time so for now please be patient. The next update will include a link to the collab and the process for voting will be in that description.

Because Aug 25th is my 27th Anniversary, the past week has not allowed me to do the prep I wanted for putting this together and a few of you need a bit more time, you have an extra week and weekend to complete an entry! (or start one, ) This deadline is final!
Please tell as many folks as you can about the contest and extension. The more entries the better! There are tons of points up for grabs!
You can enter more than one static if you like (but only 1 animation) and we always appreciate more features, points, prizes for the Peoples Choice Awards!

It's time to show off your emote's talent (or lack of ) and your animation skills on stage! Can he sing? Can she dance? juggle? eat fire? play an instrument? or do something never before seen? We want to see it here!



2 Years worth of Subscriptions To Be Given!

That's right! A total of 4,940 points by your Host, a-kid-at-heart (that's me ), will be given as follows:

1st place: 1 year Subscription or 2,396 points
2nd place: 6 month Subscription or 1,272 points
3rd place: 3 month Subscription or 636 points

I will choose the best animations based on concept, originality, and execution. But that's not all! There will be Peoples Choice Awards as well!

All entries will be compiled into a single flash animation, thanks to the lovely and talented Krissi001, which will then be displayed as a collaborative work for all to see. There you will be asked to select your 3 favorite acts and note them to me.

This is where you, the viewer comes in. Awards for the Peoples Choice will come from the People! Offer points, features, art or anything else you like for 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place, and you will be added to the list of contributors! All prizes donated by deviants will be given according to the results of popular vote!

Not an animator but want to participate? You can!

We will need a 150p x 150p static preview pic for the collaboration animation. It must have an emote, and the words"2012 Emoticon Talent Show" in either .gif or .png format. One entry will be selected to be used as the preview and that deviant will receive a 3 month Subscription or 636 points! (thought I missed that didn't ya? )

Here's how it works:

Simple way - use this base to animate on and we will add the curtain animation before and after your Act for the collaboration. If you don't animate an entrance/exit, the first/last frame of your animation will freeze as the curtain opens/closes.

Preferred way - Place your emote in the opening/closing animation frames provided

with the frame rates provided. Or put the curtain animation before and after your act (so we don't have to ).

When your Act/Preview is ready, post a link in the comments below or note a-kid-at-heart and I will add it to the Entries Folder or the Preview Folder.

Rules!

Animation:
- Entry must be 171x90 pixels on this base

- Entry must contain at least one emote
- Entry must be in .gif format

Static:
- Entry must be 150x150 pixels
-Entry must contain at least one emote and have the words "2012 Emoticon Talent Show"
- Entry may be in .gif or .png format but must be static

You may place a background 'inside' the space between the curtains and the stage. Any changes to the stage or curtain must be restored for the transition animation. The opening and closing animations are not allowed to be changed (except to have your emote entering/exiting and background) to insure a smooth transition from one act to the other.


By entering the contest you are giving permission to use the animation in the final collaboration.

Clarification: You are allowed to submit an entry to both the animated and the static category.
