Dead Among Living 11 by A-gnosis Dead Among Living 11 by A-gnosis
Page eleven of twelve. This page was fun since I got to draw a teapot in Minoan style - though it’s not tea in this one, it’s warm nectar (nectar was what the Greek gods usually drank, in case you don’t know). :D

Remember that Hades was arranging pebbles in labyrinth-like patterns in the beginning of the comic? Someone has taken the liberty to play with them while he was away. I saw this labyrinth inscribed on a coin from the city of Knossos (once the political center of the Minoan civilization) and though it just dated back to the 4th century BCE (while this comic takes place around at least 1400 BCE), I thought it was too good not to use. Actually, I think I later will change the first page so that this is the pattern that Hades was sitting with from the beginning and now someone has completed it.

The palace of Knossos with all its corridors, nooks and corners gave the impression of a labyrinth and claytablets written in Linear B sometimes refer to the great goddess as ”the Mistress of the Labyrinth”. I think that some people have interpreted the labyrinth as a symbol of the Underworld, but as I said before, no one can be really sure about Minoan religion.

A labyrinth made of pebbles. Hades had started to put the pebbles in that pattern before he went out and Hestia finished it for him.

I love that shot of Hades descending the stairs; it's seriously effective.

This page has a great balance going on with contrast, in general.

Mistress of the Labyrinths? That sounds really cool. Ancient mythology FTW. =P
My favourite parts of this are the flowers in panel three, and the teapot. I can't help it, the teapot is just so darn cute. :D

YEAH! :w00t:
Thank you! THe flowers and the teapot suddenly made their home feel a lot more... homey. It's funny how such small details can change the whole atmosphere. :)

I really want to draw it NOW. But I'm visiting Joacim in Uppsala right now and he hasn't even got a drawingtable, which makes it a bit difficult for me to work on comics while I'm here. But I hope I won't keep you waiting too long. :)
