Fan Art Friday: Blue Eye Samurai by AlexanderPaupoff, journal
Fan Art Friday: Blue Eye Samurai
Blue Eye Samurai on Netflix is a visually striking animated series with a gripping storyline, unique characters, and powerful themes like identity, honour, and vengeance.
Set in Edo-era Japan, the eponymous blue-eyed samurai, Mizu, embarks on a relentless quest for vengeance. In a society that values purity and conformity above all else, the mixed-race Mizu is an outcast, experiencing deep-rooted prejudice and abuse at every turn. Demonised by society, Mizu's insatiable need for revenge against those responsible for her origin begins to threaten her very humanity.
This week's Fan Art Friday feature pays tribute to Mizu's unforgettable journey - her strength, determination, and vulnerability - with some amazing fan art created by the community.
An artist gives all they have to the art, the whole. Your strengths and deficiencies, your loves and shames. Perhaps the people you collected. - The Swordfather

❄️The Legend of Snow, Part 1: ❄️
The desert is unrelenting as you make your daily march to the only well within hundreds of miles. From more than a mile away, you can already see the snaking lines of people queuing for their daily water allotment, already knowing it is never enough to crush that gnawing sense of dehydration in the pit of your stomach, but it is just enough that you won’t collapse while scavenging for food.
As you make your way down the hard scrabble path from the rocky outcrop you’ve called home for 20 years, a small boulder slides from under your feet, sending you toppling forward and onto your hands and knees. As you recover

Step 1 - Initial sketch
People say they can only draw a stickman. For me thats where I start. Just some basicshapes and lines as the foundation for what comes next. The pose I had in mind was sort of a boxing pose.
Step 2 - Form
Start figuring out the anatomy with blocky shapes. Thinking 3-dimensionally, adding thickness
and heft. Simple shapes. Block out the form.
Step 3 - Layering
Just start filling details and mass be loose don't worry about mistakes. Hopefully for your own work you already know what you're going to draw so you don't have to worry about design.
Follow your guidelines. This will reveal whether your initial sketch work. You'll see right away if there is anything that doesn't work.
i work digitally. so I'll lower the opacity of my current layer and start redrawing. Adding detail, refining. You can also start to erase the guides as

Down the River
She plunges her foot into the current
Cold, swift—the perfect condition for her
Her next foot follows suit in the current
She falls back, letting the river take her
The scenery slowly passes by her
As her gaze is locked to the clear blue sky
The water churns and bubbles around her
As she’s lost in that tranquility
Everything she once found familiar
Is now but an afterthought in the stream
She’s swept away by that cold water
Going down the river on her own terms
She dares not dwell on what she left behind,
As she has finally found her lost peace
No longer lost in that maddening noise
No longer lost in that hectic lifestyle
She continues to go down the river
Leaving behind what she once knew in life
For a more peaceful venture down the stream
Carried away into the unknown depths
