Alex meets Wilhelm
Wilhelm (pronounced Vill-hem) drops by to see Liz and ends up having a beer with Alex in her absence
“Leah told me about how you rescued her from a potential human trafficker, and both sisters speak of you quite fondly. Liz seems to consider you as her template for what a man should be. Have you and Liz ever, er, dated?” Alex asked.
“Ach, I suppose sometimes, Leisel and I, we behave like an old married couple,” he said in his thick German accent. “Truth be told, I never date any of my clients. Bad for business.”
“Smart man,” Alex said with a grin.
“Besides, she terrifies me,” Wilheim said, taking a long pull of his beer. “I imagine that she beheads her partners after sex.”
“Does she threaten your life too?” Alex asked, finishing his beer and placing the empty bottle on the table.
“No. But then, I’ve never courted her sister, either,” he said, toasting Alex with his beer bottle and grinning. “You are a braver man than I, Herr Turner.”

The Fox, Chapter One
Prologue
Leah Fox swore softly under her breath as she accelerated out of the parking lot of the Eternal Beauty, the plastic surgeon’s office where she worked as a receptionist. With a squeal of tires, her black 1962 Chevrolet Bel Air Sport Coupe leapt across the street, fishtailing and leaving a long trail of rubber where the right rear wheel lost traction. She heard the familiar pop and then hiss of the left rear tire suddenly losing air rapidly, and soon after the deepening rumble of a tire going flat.
Instead of slowing, she accelerated harder in an attempt to make it across the four lanes of oncoming rush-hour traffic to the left turn at the end of the block. Her hope was to make it to the cross-street before the tire lost its ability to support the weight of the car. She succeeded in reaching the left lane, but not all the way to the turn. The car bounced violently as the tire began flopping, swaying the back end to and fro as the metal hub cap went clanging off on an adventure

The outsourcers
- "Knock knock"- "Who's There?"- "Outsourcing.”- "Outsourcing who?"- "I'm sorry, answering that question is beyond the scope of the day-to-day operations clearly identified and documented in the multi-year service and support agreement we have with your organization. We would be happy to assemble a project team consisting of a Project Manager, Team Resource Co-Ordinator and several Systems Engineers to assess and respond to your request. As this is demonstrably outside of the extent of our negotiated support agreement, it will be billed as a special project. Quoting on said project will require, at the minimum, five hours of Project Manage...

Dancing queen (a brief excerpt from The Dragon)
He slid behind the massive wooden desk and turned on the banker's light, making the room slightly less dark and gloomy. He sat down and put his feet up on the desk, the wooden office chair that was nearly forty years his senior creaking in protest as he tilted it all the way back. Chloe sat down in another wooden chair, one without wheels, but featuring a thick cushion on the seat. “So what did you want to talk about?” she asked as the muted music switched to an even more aggressive beat. Jacques smiled and raised his hand, “Give it a moment.” Chloe frowned, thinking that the music was loud enough that it might dis...
