Surviving Time

They stood there on top of the bridge
The stream flowing below
The man got down on one knee
The woman was shocked
She thought they wouldn't last long
Their families tried to keep them apart
They both resisted the temptations of others
They provided each other comfort when one of their relatives died
Unable to speak she shakes her head
He slips the ring on her finger
They kiss for a moment
Looking out at the water
Thinking of the future
A future full of love and support
Because they know that their love will be surviving time til the end of their lives
Even surviving through death
