BAM! You can almost hear the sound! A cross between Photography > Transportation and Photojournalism > Sports, Mayhem by *6th-gear is an intense depiction of what happened that day "at the second event of the new "Super Turismo" category in Costa Rica", according to both the photo and the photographer. Congrats!

Well, this happened at the second event of the new "Super Turismo" category in Costa Rica. Basically the end of it all is to have affordable cars racing under a low budget, looking to get at least 30 cars and have great racing with a lot of overtakes and all...

Sadly the goal of the category is far to be achieved and for some it's the beginning of the end of our car racing :(

For this one I was lucky to be on the right spot when the crash ocurred, got the cover on the most important newspaper here. Had to upload it.

Here's the entire sequence of the accident, about 40 shots in a row:

Apart from the thrill of the actuall racing and all the noises and smells arround you at a race track there is one thing that will get your heart racing as much as any driver on the track.Yes you guessed it the contact in motor racing you cannot beat the reactions of twisted metal.I looked at the links any the one where you but all the images together well to me it looks asif the grey car in the middle was trying to get his way down the center and couldnt hold things steady,That little MKI Golf had no where to run no where to hide...I hope in the events of this collision there were no casualties<img src="…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" title=":) (Smile)" />

I won't lie—this has GOT to be my most favorite picture of an accident I've ever seen, before. So, I'm going to explain things by categories: Vision, Originality, Technique and Impact.

For Vision: I absolutely adore it, see. You can see exactly what is happening, as it is happening, even! That's highly IMPRESSIVE, too!

Originality: How much more ORIGINAL can you GET?! I mean, honestly—the picture is perfect. It was lucky, as you mentioned, that you happened to be sitting in the right spot at the time of the accident. Luck plays a big part in the originality here, for if you had been sitting elsewhere, there's that possibility that you'd have never gotten the photo in the first place, y'know? Or the possibility of it not being as good as this was.

Technique: The technique? I know nothing of techniques in photography. But I do know that it's hard to capture a photo that's in motion without everything looking distorted and odd—so I give you kudos on accomplishing a clean, crisp photo of something in motion, such as this accident.

And, lastly...

Impact: This picture brings the accident to you—and pretty much places you right at the scene. It creates something of a dramatic feel to it, y'know? But yeah, I love it. I love how you can see, in plain sight, the debris flying up from the car rolling and hitting the banking there. I love how you can see the details and the decals and the sponsors on the vehicles and how the kicked up dust from the crash is visible in the background, creating more drama and bringing more of the action to you without you actually having to be there. It's... It's brilliant. Perfect.

Good job on this---and congratulations on the Daily Deviation! <3

Thanks for your kind critique!

For me this kind of shot gets all wrapped up under the words in a nat geo book i saw some time ago: "F8 and be there" hehe
