The next morning, there was still no sign of Scarblade. The Revenge had no doubt been damaged from the collision the night before, so it was no surprise Scarblade hadn't shown up. Havenworth and his daughter returned home to rest once they arrived back in port, though Hannah slept the rest of the night in Garin's cabin. Once rested, she returned to the tavern where she worked, with Garin and Jacques, and a few of the others tagging along, having been promised breakfast on the house, and to miss out on Hannah's cooking was a mistake of the greatest kind.

"Eels? You mean to tell me it was a bunch of glowing eels that made those lights?!" Jacques asked. Garin nodded, his mouth full of fried egg, which he swallowed to reply.

"Don't worry, I was thinkin' the same thing!" he said. Jacques shook his head in disbelief.

"If you hadn't been the one telling me this story, Garin, I'd never believe it!" he said, before taking another bite of his breakfast. Hannah smiled and walked over to Garin.

"Enjoying your food boys?" she asked. Garin nodded, smiling.

"What kind of question is that?" he asked in reply. Hannah laughed.

"I'll take that as a yes," she said, then walked back to the bar as some customers walked in. Garin smiled. She enjoyed her job, but she enjoyed being an adventurer more, and that's what he loved about her.

Besides everything else, that is.

"Oi, day-dreamer!" Jacques taunted. "You gonna finish your food or let it go cold?" Garin rolled his eyes and took another bite.

"Aye, aye, I'm getting to it!" he said. Jacques laughed.

Hannah watched the two talk as she helped other customers, shaking her head lightly at the two. She could tell just by the looks on their faces that Jacques was teasing his friend, and Garin was trying to ignore him. She giggled to herself and walked to a newly vacated table and picked up the dishes left on it. The door suddenly opened, and Hannah looked up, her ears instantly flattening against her head as she saw Giselle walking in. The white Usul was smiling, ignoring everyone around her and keeping her eyes on Garin. Hannah sighed in annoyance and set the dishes back down before walking over to Giselle, stepping in front of her.

"Giselle, we need to talk," she said.

"What is there to talk about?" Giselle asked, shrugging her shoulders.

"Your little infatuation with Garin." Hannah said, crossing her arms.

"Oh, that…" Giselle sighed in emphasized annoyance. "Can't you leave it alone?"

"Not until you leave Garin alone." Hannah said. "What part of him being taken do you not understand?"

"See? That's another thing I really don't like about you!" Giselle snapped. "You're so selfish! Garin can choose whomever he wants to be with!"

"Which he already has…" Hannah grumbled.

"And I do admit he could have done a lot better." Giselle said, putting her hands on her hips. Hannah growled in aggravation.

"That's not my point…" Hannah said. "You obviously like him and don't like me, but I love him and he loves me, so just… leave us alone. Please?"

Giselle scoffed. "Please? Now you decide to be nice to me?" she smirked. "You know what? No. Garin deserves a much better woman, and I'll show him that somehow, you can be sure of that."

Hannah glared hard, her fists clenching until her knuckles turned white, and her teeth gritting behind her lips. Her ears flattened as she kept glaring at Giselle, who just smirked more, then lifted her hand and waved it slightly.

"Don't you have something better to do then just stand here?" she asked. Hannah paused, and then smirked briefly, her hands relaxing finally.

"As a matter of fact…" she said. "I do."

SMACK!!!

The sound split the air in the tavern, and now it was quiet enough to hear a pin drop. Several patrons stared for a few moments before going back to their business, however Jacques kept staring for several moments longer before finally blinking his wide eyes and looking at Garin, who was still eating.

"You saw that… right?" Jacques asked.

"Didn't have to," Garin said without looking up. Jacques blinked again and looked back up.

"That must've hurt," he said, wincing as he watched Giselle hold her face. "Hannah's got a good arm."

"At least she saved me the trouble of having to do it myself."
