Michael Carter was born in the 25th century in Gotham City. Carter's early life was shaped by hardship and unfulfilled potential. He was raised by a single mother after his father, a compulsive gambler, abandoned the family. A talented athlete, Michael played college football for Gotham University, but his promising career was cut short when he was caught fixing games to pay off his father’s debts and mother's medical bills. Disgraced and expelled, Carter found work as a night watchman at the Metropolis Space Museum, where he became enamored with the heroes of the past.

Determined to rewrite his legacy, Carter stole high-tech artifacts from the museum. He also commandeered a security robot, Skeets, and hijacked Rip Hunter’s time sphere, traveling back to the 21st century. He established himself as "Booster Gold," a corporate-sponsored hero who used his knowledge of future events to gain fame and wealth.

Though initially driven by selfish motives, Booster quickly proved himself as a capable hero. He developed a close friendship with Blue Beetle (Ted Kord), and their antics often brought comic relief. They not only fought villains together but also engaged in elaborate schemes—most notably their failed attempt to start "Blue & Gold Enterprises." Their business aspirations were always met with disaster, usually thanks to Booster’s overconfidence and Ted’s poor financial planning. Booster and Beetle fought against alien invasions, corporate supervillains, and even their own teammates when Maxwell Lord’s manipulations turned them against them.

His greatest trial came when he discovered Rip Hunter’s true mission—protecting the timeline. Carter learned that his actions had caused unintended disruptions, leading Hunter to recruit him as a Time Master and join the Legends of Tomorrow. Initially reluctant, Booster soon embraced the role, realizing that his true purpose was not public heroics but unseen acts of temporal preservation. As a Time Master, he was forced to let history remember him as a fool while secretly preventing catastrophic paradoxes.

Under Rip Hunter’s guidance, Booster took on greater responsibilities, stopping temporal anomalies, preventing paradoxes, and even ensuring events like Batman’s origin remained intact. In a shocking revelation, he learned that Rip Hunter was actually his future son, proving that Booster's legacy would outlast the mockery he endured.

After Ted Kord’s disappearence, the world believed Blue Beetle was gone for good. His death led to the emergence of Jaime Reyes. However, Booster uncovered anomalies in the timestream, suggesting that Ted had been displaced rather than outright erased. For years, Booster worked in secret, searching the timestream for evidence of what had happened to his best friend.

His search eventually led him to a fractured pocket of time, a liminal space outside normal history where lost figures and forgotten events drifted endlessly. There, Ted Kord was trapped, alive but unstuck from time, existing as a ghost-like figure in a shifting sea of potential realities. Booster fought against time itself to rescue Ted, battling time wraiths, paradox loops, and even an alternate evil version of himself who sought to prevent his interference. With the help of Skeets and Rip Hunter, Booster finally managed to anchor Ted back to reality, pulling him into the modern timeline.

Booster’s determination to save Ted Kord cemented his growth from a fame-seeking glory hound to a true hero willing to defy history itself for his best friend. While he still struggled with his public reputation as a “joke” hero, those who knew the truth recognized him as something far greater—a guardian of time, a friend who would never abandon those he cared about, and an unsung hero. And so, Blue and Gold lived on—not just as heroes, but as legends in the making.
