A March update, since I saw my last update was from December.

Hi guys! How've you been for these past few months since I last updated?

I've been more or less the same, honestly. Busy, but I see the light at the end of the tunnel and my commission list now has thinned out considerably compared to the end of last quarter. It's exciting. While I'm always open for commissions, I'm kinda glad it thinned out by 80% because it opens up space for me to draw some comic stuff (which I started on January but honestly got backlogged again and I kinda feel bad about that), make some print-worthy things to put in my TicTail shop as well as charm ideas (which I've been posting regularly on Twitter anyway).

At some point last month I was sought out to do this long-term project thing which I was pretty excited about. I did the standard test run for them (draw a single character) and it was all promising up until after I finished the piece for them and then never heard back for two weeks. It was safe to assume that I was not what they were looking for but what peeves me is that they didn't have the balls or professionalism to tell me, "Hey, you know, it's not really what we expected and hoped from you but thank you for doing this, good luck with your endeavours." Instead, I was the one to give the say so, after two weeks of silence. It's pretty shitty but oh well, you know? Happens in this line of work and all. At least I'm still open to try for other long-term contracted work in the future, if anyone will find me/have me.

So... same old, same old. Trying to stream at regular times on Picarto and then some. Sometimes I spring up on not-streaming days just to chill. I find that streaming keeps me in check when working on something. You know, so I don't get easily bored and stop and then procrastinate.

Write back to me, I'd like to know how you guys are doing too. :)

Notable happenings with me:

  • Mark got me to start playing Borderlands 2 with him on PS4. It's really fun. I really like Claptrap. Lilith is meh. I play a siren. I'm really bad at FPS but he knew that already.
  • The charms I've made so far were pretty successful. I can't wait to make the second batch to send out. This time I'll opt for wooden charms. They look so pretty!
  • Daredevil 2 is absolutely amazing.

Winter has come!

Greetings everyone, this is my monthly update so I'm not totally dead on DeviantArt.

I noticed there's a decline in activity all around for dA. This hasn't been anything new to me, mostly because a lot of people have taken to mass social media (such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Instagram) to share their art. I feel that ever since social media and hashtagging has become a thing, designated art sites have experienced a decline. Not to mention Patreon probably plays a part in that too because artists that use Patreon create an inner community just for their fans/supporters. It's probably a long time coming now, especially since dA doesn't really circulate their art a well as Instagram. The only problem I have with IG is that it's fast paced but that could also mean a good thing, encouraging artists to always create and always share to keep up with the stream of art content that's always coming. dA has made it pretty difficult for new people to come in and share their art too. Pretty much if you haven't started off in the early 2000s or at the latest in the mid-2000s, you won't really get much exposure. Whereas Tumblr (as toxic as it might be depending on your content and which dashboard your art winds up in) circulates really fast thanks to the reblog and hashtag function.

I can literally go on all day about analyzing the whole deal with social media and art sharing and exposure. It'd be a really long rant though. I guess my main concern with myself is that I lost that sense of go-to when it comes to sharing my art. I take to Tumblr these days and honestly, the worst of it is anonymous trolls leaving hateful messages in my inbox but that's a very fixable hiccup. Unfortunately I've known some people who've gotten nothing but backlash for posting art on Tumblr, which is really shitty. It makes me concerned whether that will happen at some point with me. And so, I made it a habit to try and get art up every day on Instagram. Twitter is okay too, I guess, but that's more microblogging than art sharing. At least, I feel that it's NOT entirely designed for art sharing.

Anyway.

Still busy these days. Very tired. Swamped. Overall good but I don't want to sound ungrateful by saying how exhausted I am.

How are you guys holding up? :)

Hey everyone!

Another one of those 'haven't updated in a while' kind of posts.

Halloween was pretty fun and October was very busy for me. Worked on several projects I was hired for (still working on a few) all while managing Patreon goodies and then the occasional commission. I'm still taking commissions on the account of a) it's going to be the holidays pretty soon and b) my son's birthday is the beginning of next month! So I definitely have to prepare for that... Goddamn the holidays are expensive. Can't wait for it to be over. Dx

It's more or less the same for me here. Doodling, doodling, doodling. Oh! I also got myself a Cintiq 13HD, finally. It's everything I expected it to be and definitely more comfortable drawing on via desktop than it is on a first gen Surface Pro. Even still, I'd like to be mobile at times when I draw (meaning somewhere else in my apartment... lol). Still considering the Wacom Companion or the newest Surface Pro for a mobile alternative to work on. My son doesn't like me to draw on the desktop for long periods of time so that's why I'm mostly still opting for a mobile drawing device.

Anywho~ That's about it for me. I hope you guys have been doing well these past two months! :)
